With one round remaining before the semi-finals, the only teams assured a semi-final berth are the Bluebags and the Warriors.
After six rounds of competition, Bluebags, Warriors, Souths and Ninjas make up the top four.
But the top four are far from decided
ROUND 7 (the final round before the semis):
Souths v Eels
Cougars v Bluebags
Knights v Ninjas
Warriors v Panthers
Souths v Eels
The match of the round
Last year's premiers the Eels are making a late charge and are well positioned with a healthy for-and-against. A win should see them sneak into the top four. But they have to overcome some stiff opposition in the Rabbitohs.
The lads from Redfern actually have a shot at a top two spot. Both teams have plenty to play for and this has to be the match of the round!
Cougars v Bluebags
First up... congrats to the Bluebags - minor premiers for 2007
A tough assignment for the Cougars but they have a simple equation: get all five posts in and roll the minor premiers. A win to the Cougars will see them in with a real shot at earning a top four spot.
The Bluebags only have to show up but should be keen to continue their undefeated run... and the mail is that that won't be taking this match lightly.
Knights v Ninjas
The Ninjas have great shot for a semi-final berth in their debut season. They are sitting well in fourth spot and only have to win to make a bird of it. Like Souths, the Chuck Norris boys also have a chance at a top two spot!
It would require a better than Steve Bradbury-like effort for Knights to make the top four. The fact is, they don't have enough posts on the board. But they still have plenty to play for... a loss will see them stuck with the wooden spoon and the Novocastrian fighting spirit shouldn't allow that to happen.
Warriors v Panthers
The Warriors can't miss out on a finals berth but the chance of maintaining their top two spot must have some appeal. The second-placed team only has to defeat the Bluebags in the major semi-final to earn a spot in the big one... the grand final!
If the Warriors win this one, they are only two games away from premiership glory!
The Penrith road is a little tougher, they need to win this one and hope that other teams fall over. Plus the wooden spoon is ever present. But while there's a chance there's always hope and the Panthers can go a long way to determining their own destiny with a soild victory in round 7.
Good luck one and all and long live the F7s :thumn
