As at 8 August, I have Port sneaking into the eight and Brisbane missing out.

Disastrous news for Hawthorn at the other end of the table, with their first wooden spoon in 40 years :(

Hmmm ... Do Richmond throw this weeks game to ensure Hawthorn doesn't get a bonus selection [-X

Told you they would beat the Scummers.

Both sides will playing hard to win, Young Man. Should be quite a cracker, just wish that they were showing it on the tube up here

Yes, maybe we need to play them in awful Bulldog training jumpers every time...

The scoreline was exceedingly flattering for the Bombers, made worse by the depleted nature of the Hawk side.

I'm thinking Essendon may be a genuine spoon contender next season. Particularly if, as expected, Collingwood gets a major boost from the upcoming draft by finishing last and get the only PPs on offer.

Given we just put in a good performance @ Telstra Dome (Given the way Footscray have spankified Brisbane & West Coast of late, I'm not too shattered @ a 2 goal loss. Especially when we had our chances) ........ We are due for a terribly sh*thouse game there. I truely hate that place when Richmond are playing there.

I tell you 1 club that is shanking the season - COLLINGWOOD

Two years after a GF and they are going to get a priority pick? f**k off, I'll bebarrackign for those rats to get up this week.

I don't believe they are shanking.

Making those two grand finals with the list they had was positively Hafeyesque, although even then they had to rely on a brilliant injury run across those seasons.

They haven't been so healthy since. Hawthorn's decline across 2002-03 also coincided with a nightmare prolonged injury run, and while there is a clear impact in the moment, it also carries severe after effects.

Collingwood is in severe strife list wise. Its midfield is mediocre and lacking in leg speed. Its key defenders are either not up to it, or in the case of Wakelin & Presti, getting past it. More tellingly, talismanic leader Buckley is on the wrong side of 30 and has started to become injury prone.

Atb the moment their problems have been exacerbated by having to play effectively without any forwards other than young Cloke and I'm not surprised by how poorly they're travelling.

Rubbish.

Your argument against 'tanking' was that teams cannot afford it due to membershop and sponsorship concerns... Do you honestly beleive that Collingwood losing their last two games will make a lick of difference to either their membership or sponsorship contracts?

They are also a club that does not give a f**k about the integrity of the competition, only what is good for them.

Virtually all of their top line players will not play this weekend ... & you are telling me they are trying their hardest to win a game?

bullsh*t.

Fair slack of the reins, they're not playing because they're on the injury list.

Collingwood won't play to lose, but it'll lose anyway because its list has had the Richard!

OK, Out of interest, how many Hawthorn & Carlton players have been sent for surgery several weeks out from the end of the season, players who could easily take their place on the park.

& Buckley? bullsh*t he's injured. OK, well maybe injured emotionally due to leaving Brisbane for Collingwood to "Win Premierships" (LMAO - I hope 30 years down the track their still reminding the skunk of that dumb decision) but physically? bullsh*t.

Carlton only have two players on the injury list.

Hawthorn has 14...

HAWTHORN
John Barker (quad) season
Chance Bateman (shoulder) season
Simon Beaumont (Achilles) season
Tim Boyle (leg) season
Robert Campbell (knee) season
Nick Holland (shoulder) season
Ben Kane (ankle) season
Rick Ladson (arm) season
Matt Little (ankle) season
Sam Mitchell (shoulder) season
Brad Sewell (thumb) season
Doug Scott (shoulder) season
Mark Williams (knee) season
Danny Jacobs (jaw) season

5 of these injuries (Barker, Bateman, Scott, Campbell & Beaumont have been long termers)

Of the others, the only two that you could remotely consider anywhere near viable for playing on are Sewell and Boyle.

You'd be asking for trouble with Boyle, and I support the club fully in not playing a guy with stress fractures in his leg. Any medico will tell you that stress fractures need total rest over many weeks to prevent nasty long term complications.

Outside Sewell and the long termers, the only injury that isn't a break is Williams, with Hawthorn clearly keen to ensure that a minor 1 month knee injury doesn't escalate into a long term problem.

So the answer to your question is 0 at Carlton and (possibly) 1 at Hawthorn. Sewell had a fab month before breaking his thumb, but I somehow doubt that, in and of himself, he's going to make a massive difference to our onfield fortunes at this point.

Seriously Craig, if you're going to make these outlandish statements you really need to do the research beforehand.

Unless you beleive that players with breaks, reconstructions and dislocations are fine to take the paddock.
