Apology?

After what he did to this club.

No f**king way.

Furthermore, its hardly a difficult job selecting a team out of australias best players. Sheens made it hard, somehow.

C'mon MU, a premiership and a number of GF qualifiers - you are a hard marker.

Yeah, he had a couple of shit years too.

Winning the world cup doesn't make him a great coach. It was either going to be Stephen Kearney or Tim Sheens that won the world cup. Both are average coaches at best.

Tim Sheens had the best players in the world. Guys like Jarryd Hayne, Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Johnathon Thurston and so on. What coaching is involved?

The only effect he had on the team was not selecting our best 17 available players. We won because any combination of players that were available were still that much better then the other teams. Wanting Brent Tate in the team ahead of Michael Jennings and/or Josh Morris. Not selecting Jarryd Hayne from the opening game. Thinking that it was crucial to have a "utility" on the bench that could cover a single position on the field which was already filled with superior 80 minute players... and in Game 1 we had a genuine utility in Luke Lewis already on the field and he still went for a specialist position utility player.

It's great to win the world cup. But the spine of Billy Slater, Johnathon Thurston, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith is by far the best in the world. Throw any 13 players in the team with them and they'll win it more often then not. When those 13 players are largely consisting of the best players in their positions in the world, there's not really any coaching to be done. These guys all know how to win games. These guys are all super competitive. The best spine in the world, along with two of the most dangerous ball runners in the world in the centres for Australia. The only way Australia were ever losing was if Tim Sheens had any effect on the team other then selecting a weaker team then available.

Summed up perfectly.
A nerd with no league knowledge could win the world cup using Google.

Sorry, I forgot that there are all these great coaches and selectors posting here.

Now, I know the real butthurt - because Robbie wasn't on the bench.;-)

The Australian side is a great squad, but someone needed to be appointed coach - Sheenius and the team did a great job.

Sheens' stocks will definitley rise after this.....probably see him coaching in the NRL 2015 or even end of '14

Too bad he didnt focus on defense like he did this morning, when he was at WTs....instead of basing recruitment, game plans and tactics around one player for a decade

what does this have to do with the Tigers? Tim got given a great side who put a beat down on a team that didn't turn up. this makes him a better coach then ricky stuart who failed in 08 and I don't see how that's an accomplishment.

Australian coach Tim Sheens is a likely target for Cronulla if coach Shane Flanagan receives a similar ban to the one imposed on Essendon's James Hird after ASADA tables its report into drug protocols at NRL clubs.
Fairfax Media revealed on Sunday that the report, which the Australian Rugby League Commission is due to receive on December 11, may include recommendations on sanctions against clubs, coaches and medical and training staff.
Hird received a one-year ban from the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute over the supplements program at the club last year under the guidance of Stephen Dank.
Dank was at the Sharks in 2011 – the first year of Flanagan's NRL coaching job – and hypothetically the ARLC could charge him with bringing the game into disrepute in that he allowed the controversial sports scientist to introduce the supplements program.

If Flanagan were to receive a ban, Sheens would be an obvious replacement and he has a close relationship with Cronulla chief executive Steve Noyce, with whom he worked at Wests Tigers.
Sheens has been out of a club job this year but the four-time premiership-winning coach has had a huge boost after devising the game plan for the Kangaroos' comprehensive World Cup final victory.
He was cagey about his future after Australia's 34-2 defeat of New Zealand at Old Trafford on Saturday but said in a recent tour during the World Cup that he wanted to return to coaching in the NRL if an opportunity arose.
While Sheens' role with the Kangaroos has effectively been subsidised by Wests Tigers as the club is yet to reach a financial settlement on the remaining two years of his contract, it is unlikely Australia will have a full-time coach next year.
As the newly crowned world champions left Manchester on Sunday after celebrating through the night, many were aware that the doping scandal that plagued the game all season might be about to conclude.
More than 30 players and members of the coaching staff from a variety of clubs have been interviewed by ASADA officials, and are now awaiting their fate.
Most of the Kangaroos squad are looking forward to a break but Parramatta captain Jarryd Hayne was already focused on next season under new coach Brad Arthur.
"We are looking for a huge year, and I have been speaking to Brad every week," Hayne said. "He has just been tipping me up about the boys and how they are going.
"They are training well and he is really enjoying being a head coach for the first time. He had got a lot of ideas and he is excited.
"I knew him before, and obviously with him being the coach and me being captain we have got to have a good relationship."

I know we are always having a go at John Morris and I suppose there is good reason for that but he will have played over 250 games in the NRL when he finally retires...so I guess the history books are going to say he went alright, there isn't too many players that get to that number.

I ain't sticking up for the guy and not looking to start a John Morris thread (either hate or love) I'm just saying it is 250 more NRL games than I've played!!!

Actualy I rate Morris , he is awesome for the Sharks in the roll he plays , he just wasnt a halfback... but that wasnt his fault , blame the Sheenius.

Was gonna say something like this.
Morris has been great for us.
And as far as Fifita returning to you guys, we are looking to have both Andrew and David signed long term before the season starts. Andrew loves the place and gets on very well with all the players and staff.
