Don't get this post at all.

Mullen stepped up and scored what should have been the match winning try. The kind of things you expect of a champion player when it counts.

Unfortunately the rest of the team made sure that his individual brilliance to win the match was a moot point.

Misanthrope didn't actually watch the game...

You can't tell me a talker like Finch/Kimmorley wouldn't help our current second half woes.

I have now. I still stand by the claim that Dureau has been better than Mullen for about 98% of the time this season. One try, however good and however important, won't change that. Maybe when our playmaker does his job for more than two minutes a game, I'll change my tune.

The try this afternoon is just about the only thing I can recall Mullen doing all season, and the season's pretty young so far. For all of his raw talent, he's not trying or he's just unable to deliver. Dureau's not half the player Mullen is, but he's out there every game trying to make things happen. He's chipping and chasing, he's throwing himself into the game, and he's copping a pasting for it. Meanwhile, Mullen's barely been sighted in 320 minutes of football and it's still a cardinal sin to call him on it because he's the anointed successor to Andrew Johns' legacy despite never having given any indication he's even one eighth the player Joey was.

mullen was better today without being anything great. a step up from previous weeks. dureau produces the same thing each week - effort, enthusiasm, a 40/20... but that's about it.

poor bloke has the vision... got the short end of the stick in the athletic genetics stakes, though. his goalkicking was fantastic today, too. piss wes off out of the team, for the love of god. the bloke is a complete waste of a position unless he's filling in at centre.

How can our key playmaker do it all alone all the time?

The ball he gets is crap from his halfback, and he is basically left alone to come up with some sort of individual brilliance. He sure as hell doesn't have any assistance from his 7 to take any pressure off when it comes to our attack. The only time that happens is on the last tackle when there are 2 genuine options to take the kick. The rest of the set is either Mullen, or nothing.

I feel sorry for him.

Finch can control tempo. Mullo cannot. Mullo is a terrific ball runner and would not be out of place at centre either. I believe at centre he would be a sensation.

I actually listed Mullen at centre for my side against the Bunnies this week, but that's pending Kurt's return and ability to play in the halves.
