Why kill off a major character? I thought one of the great strengths of the Simpsons was that continuity between episodes was roughly always maintained, so you could see any episode in isolation without needing context around it.

My guess is if they kill off a major character, it will be someone who was in it all the time but not totally funny or liked... perhaps like Reverend Lovejoy. I don't know, just guessing.

But, I absolutely HATED IT when they killed Fat Tony!

I'm guessing Krusty... seeing as he's the most famous Jew in the show and isn't in the picture. An outside guess would be his father... but they said this is going to be the biggest thing since 'Who shot Mr. Burns', so IMO it's somebody big!

Somewhere along the lines decided to make Homer a full genius instead of just stupid and ruined the character. They don't have relatable stories anymore either which was one of the best parts of the show. It's all just wacky adventures and celebrity guest spots now.

There's a good video on YouTube somewhere with Conan O'Brien and the old writing team discussing the good ol days. They need to get those guys back together.
