This post is absolute rubbish and the guy who posted it is a fool. We are St George and Illawarra. In the years to come we will survive because we aren't just a Sydney side. It is a great merger. Almost 15 000 people to that game and none of them from the Warriors. That is as many, if not more Dragons supporters to the game as if it was held at Kogarah. I came from Manly for that game. I drove through the national park, had breakfast at a great pub overlooking the ocean, walked along the rocks at the Gong, had a swim, had lunch at the marina and watched the game with beautiful views of the Pacific. It was an amazing atmosphere and a great day. I do it a couple of times a year. Try it all you Sydney-based Dragons supporters. It is a great way to spend a sunday afternoon.

I went down from the Northern Suburbs of Sydney today and the hill was pretty full, I can tell ya. People could not get a spot on the grass so there were plenty standing in the walkways. I agree with Hardbaby. I had a great drive down, had a few beers in the leagues club and one thing that beats Kogarah is plenty of free parking and it's easy to get out and back on the freeway to Sydney after the game.

Hey Nath,
Free parking may soon be gone - Gong council is looking to put meters everywhere!

coming up to 2 I was disgusted by the lack of a crowd. A lot came in real close to kickoff, maybe even a little late to end up a decent crowd. A lot better atmosphere today as well.

The crowd number wasn't exactly the same as the Tits game was it???
Tell me we're not doing a Henson park!

Mate the atmosphere at the gong is not the best purely bucause the acoustics of the stadium are not that great.

People dont have to accept the ground or the abuse they receive from the people down there. If they want to voice their opinions they can.

We won today and i was there. I have a 12 game membership and I absolutly HATE going to the gong................HOWEVER i still go to every game they play there. You still cant tell people to support another team. Especially the scum.:D Also you shouldnt single out the sydney based people because the majority of the supporters were heading back up the free way on my way home. im pretty sure the majority of the supporters come from sydney.

:roll:Do we have to get the same post after every WIN stadium game. 14,500 with virtually no away supporters is a reasonably good crowd. Have a whinge in 2 weeks if the Dogs game isn't a sellout. Until then take your broken record somewhere else.

14.5K is pretty good considering we were playing the Warriors. About the same as the Dragons vs Newcastle game at Kogarah from memory. Crowd average, over the years, there isn't much difference between WIN stadium and Win Jubilee oval.

So more than 7000 people were all driving up the "free way" simultaneously leaving WIN stadium?

same here by 1330 i thought there was only 7000 people i dont know were the rest of the people came from. i was thinking what a sh*thouse crowd for a team thats comeing in the top 4 and on fire then at 2 it got pritty full. one thing i hate at the gong is whats this policy they have only 4 beers per person.i thought they were jokeing

Hey lets give Stel some slack guys - he posted before kickoff and from what I saw on TV and everyone else saw at the game, the crowd rocked up late to make a decent crowd in the end.

I think this is something that for some will never die, and in particular when instances of argument that have occurred at WIN over the past few years continue to occur, that it will continue to be an issue.

I personally am all for one home ground, and yes I believe that is Kogarah - that is my opinion but then again, if I had been an Illawarra supporter I would probably believe it should be WIN so what ya gunna do? Just how I and many others probably feel on both sides of the coin!

I agree with a few other peoples comments. Wasnt til almost on kick off when the joint began to fill right up. I was really happy with the eventual turn out against a non sydney based side. The "GO BRO" sign that the coconuts behind us on the hill had was "beeeeached as!" lol. They were a good hearted bunch of guys and girls who gave as good as they got. Was a pleasure to see blokes like CooperMan shaking hands and even a man-hug witha behemoth of a man in a warriors jersey post game.
You'll note OurRedV's initial post re poor crowd was posted at a lull in crowd numbers prior to kickoff, so i am happy to cut the guy a break. But also agree, i would have been upset if i checked the forum tonight and didnt see a 'Gong bash thread going hard right on cue.
Must admit, not too many other places i'd rather be on a sunny Sunday arvo then standing on a hill watching my beloved dragons with my mates. Lifes tough huh!

IMO If he is stupid enough to post an comment before the main game had even started, that is assured to get a firey response, he can cop it on the chin.

After receiving 2 phone calls before kick off about the poor numbers on the hill, and whilst being stuck at work I was so fired up and distraught so I made a thread.

For all we know, 4,000 people could have spotted the thread title and pulled the finger out to attend the match pre kick off. You never know. :?

Just under 15,000 for a match against the Kiwis is awesome! Totally wasn't expecting anything like that pre kick off judging by the way things were going.

So lets back it up against the Panthers on the 29th!
