The Storm's Financial Results

Wrong I am angry at the Club admin and whoever was involved and am still supporting the team.
The us against them agenda is great for crowds and to push the sport in Melbourne but the smarter Storm fans know that the club has cheated and need to wear the penalties and try to re-build this great club.

Im sure some of us recognise your position on this. Would be good to see all storm supporters on the same page.

so going by your theory if your brother was a serial killer you'd just let him go on murdering rather than report him? dont get mad at mebourne belle for seeing the truth rather than deluding herself
So now the storm are serial killers? great analogy you weed

Um...hasn't it been a singlular increase in crowds? I believe the post you quoted talked about an extended period of time.

Are you serious? There is no way the storm will ever drop back to those previously poor crowd numbers.

If people wanted to attack the current or previous financial situation of the storm thats one thing. However i have absolutely no doubt that in the near future the storm will be close to the top of the NRL in terms of finances.

Your an A grade idiot!!! You should stick up for your family no matter what, you just see storm as your play thing
No mate your the A grade idiot. I have supported the storm for the last 13 years, have been to all but 1 GF they have been in and have travelled to support them many times. I will always support the Melbourne Storm but I am in no way naive to the fact that we did cheat and we need to take the penalties and deal with it. There is no point bitching and moaning about it, fact is some people at our club did the wrong thing and there is no point pretending they didn't.

Just a little something at the bottom of this story:
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...for-law-breaches/story-e6frg6nf-1225857630482

Despite the current uproar, Melbourne Storm's latest accounts reveal the embattled club to be in a sound financial position, having turned its previous year's $967,000 loss into a $1.6 million profit.

The club's recent success in the National Rugby League, including two premierships in the past three years, has obviously started flowing through to its bottom line, with income from membership fees rising by more than $200,000 to $1.3m during last season.

That means they join the Knights and Rabbitohs who are back in the black after years of losses.

It is good but to say they are in the black in a true sense is false.

They receive a massive grant from News Ltd which they would not exist without.

^ The case is made that they don't need as much as they ask for each season. If they are making a $1.6m profit, and spending $1m over the cap, thats $2.6m that they are recieving that they don't need.

This means of the $6m they get from News (that News gets from the NRL) they only need $4.4m to keep the joint running.

If the Salary cap is increased to $6m a year and fully covered by the NRL that would be another $800k less required to prop them up (the current gap between the grant and the cap).

Then you look at growth in revenue from the new stadium and memberships and their situation doesn't look that bad at all.

So in reality after the next TV deal, they will only really require something in the range of $3.6m a year to prop them up. This will only get smaller with time.

Lets say their net value for TV rights and advertising is around $25m (probably a very conservative guess), and their net cost of operation for the league is $6m salary cap, and $3.5-4m "expansion" grant, they are still generating the game a $15m profit.

$1.6 million profit.... perfect. That's the exact same figure as the fine handed down to them by the NRL.

Interesting with the CEO's meeting today that Judas Gallop did not invite the Storm nor the interim CEO who is Sydney based. Shows his commitment to a team in Melbourne and his value in their input. Probably holding a silent auction as to who wanted Billy the Kid or GI.

The Storm's acting CEO (Frank Stanton) was invited but could not make it as he is helping with the NRL's investingation into Melbourne's breaches.

I imagine he has a lot to do.

Technically only $500,000 was a fine ... the $1.1 million or so was just prize money they never deserved in the first place (and essentially stole from teams who were - presumably - trying to compete fairly).

There certainly is a neatness to the figures, though.

There has always been the perception that rugby supporters are bum sniffing morons with no necks. Your brainless immature response helps support that belief.
The Storm cheated and have been whacked more than any other club in world sport including those involved in match-fixing, cap rorts, and steroid abuse.
Our point is that Gallop shows no interest in the Storms rehabilitation or even us being involved in the game going forward. He wont include us in management decisions, no involvement in cap needs (yes we will ignore anyway ... arent you funny and original), been told that we have to offload a number of senior players, been told that we cant sign anyone already at the club, been told that we cant sign anyone new. Is that a professional way to look FORWARD from this solution and give support to members and sponsors who have done nothing wong? No.
Gallop ignores that fact that Schubert was given the 2nd set of books in 2008 and that his lack of effort has allowed this situation to drag on for 3 seasons beyond where it needed to.
And if you cant respond in an intelligent way, then just turn back on the Simpsons or the UFC or the tractor pulling or Deliverance, love those banjos redneck or no neck!!

For future reference the game is Rugby League not Rugby. Different games DUMBO!

How many Storm games have you attended? not including the game against the Warriors.

The one thing this cap breach has shown, Storm supporters are the most uneducated supporters of Rugby League.

Just because some misguided fools decided to dribble on with the us vs them agenda it doesn't mean all Storm fans feel the same way.

They provide News with some nice Pay TV ratings (& I assume income) through News half ownership of Foxtel.
