I'm going to watch the game again tonight before giving my 3, 2, 1 but at this stage it looks like groundhog day. Forwards and Benji played well but rest of the backs have a lot of work to do. Then every homie on this forum (only this forum) praises Widdop. Calls him "tough" and says "he has a lot of heart". Those things along with being "composed" are good but he is a half. Need more creativity FFS!!
Now before the usual suspects flip out on me, I have to watch the game again to be sure and I'm not saying he played "badly".

Absolute moronic statement and is just another medium for you to create a tit for tat posting event so you can get your total post numbers up which is what it is all about for you.

Please edit the game and come back with the minutes and seconds of each highlight for Benji and remember simple catching and passing is not a highlight.

I'm not "nitpicking" and certainly don't anticipate blaming the loss on Widdop. As was the case last season, he seemed "composed", "tough" and to "have a lot of heart". I think you can add to this being a good communicator/organizer. This kind of person is important for a team and every team needs such a player.

Having said that, he showed zero ability to cause trouble for the enemy defence with his running or ball playing but still, every second homie on this forum (and only this forum) says he was one of the Dragons best.

Red73V's comment is so typical. 1 point to Widdop for being tough and "will only get better". FFS, this guy is a half, not a prop and he is 27 years-old in a few days!!!)

Before you flip out on me, let me reiterate that I think Widdop is a good, solid "workman-like" player but he wasn't one of the best last night and if Widdop had put "that kick" in rather than Rein, most of you wouldn't say a word except to denounce anyone who did. If Benji put "that kick" in (even if he was by far Dragons best in attack for the game) he would be roundly denounced.

I just don't understand it. Please help me understand? How does a good, solid, "workman-like" and likely overpaid import (given he was signed by superocah Price) command loyalty Gaz, Cooper, Young, Hornby and etc could only dream of?

Make your own judgements on who you think deserves the 3,2,1 instead of finding fault with other posters who prefer Gaz over Benji. So you are going to watch it a second time before you decide because you would like to put your Bunji coloured glasses on. I had some important work to take care of. Could only look on and off and for this reason, can't give an honest appraisal yet. I'm glad it looks like Benji and Widdop will be staying.

What do you want you fool? Statistics after round 1? Well here they are. How are Benji's stats after round 1? Do you want me to denounce Widdop? I think he is a good player. Solid and "workman-like". Every team needs one such player. Just lucky we have a player who can lay on tries and line breaks on a regular basis.

I know you would rather the team be a rabble with Widdop as one of it's best rather than a solid, "workman-like" player in a team that is shaping up as a contender. I decided against watching it. I already know the result and know it didn't go the way I wanted so.... not a lot of motivation. If it's just because I told you I would do it...... Well that doesn't even come into my calculations.

I know the Daily Telegraph basically said it was groundhog day from last season or specifically, it was Benji's lightening hands keeping the Dragons in the game. I know the stats point to Benji playing well... so what do you want? Benji played well. I suspect he is going to give the Dally M award a good shake if he can remain injury free. Dugan by all reports didn't play well but given forwards have to play remarkably well to get Dally M points, Dugan is the only player who will regularly take points off Benji when the team wins.
