yeah, Cronk's played alot of 5/8 hasn't he

Sigh........

No he hasn't ..........actually.

But Thurston will be 5/8 next year for QLD and Cronk will be half.

There's your Australian 2012 halves pairing right there.

Chalk up yet another idiotic statement from Ricky in 2011

can't see that happening at all, I'm not sure what all the fuss is over Cronk

does nothing for me, he's just an honest toiler in a very good team but doesn't have anywhere near the natural ability the Hayne does

Of course you can't see it happening. You have your Eels blinkers on.

Hayne was lucky to even PLAY SOO this year, let alone replace Locky in the 6 jersey.

I mean FFS ........Hayne's just moved into the 6 for tonights game, it hasn't even been played yet and we have Stuart touting him as the next Oz 5/8 !!!

You guys crack me up ...........

They'll be no room for NSW wannabes in the Oz team this year or next.

Get used to it

Such as........?

and are we wagering on Hayne being the next Oz 5/8,

because I've already conceded that Uate, Gallen and Lewis should play for Australia in another thread.

I don't consider them "NSW wannabes".

So who should be the other Australian winger, assuming Hodges and Inglis are the centres?
....
....
?
Darius Boyd?
Jharal Yow Yeh?
Brett Morris?

Hayne would still offer more than either of those three on the wing, at least as far as Australia goes. In a few years though Jharal will be a permanent fixture in the Australian team on the wing. If Jarryd rediscovers form at fullback or if he does as well at five-eighth as some are suggesting he can then he'll probably play in one of those roles in a few years too.

Unless Hayne's form from now on demanded selection

Boyd before Hayne (on the proviso Boyd's form was also solid/impressive)

I do like Hayne. You seen that in the top 5 fullback thread.

Just don't think he'll be Australia's next 5/8 ......ever (Injury excepted)

let alone later this year.

IMO
6 Hayne
7 thurston
Is much more dangerous than
6 thurston
7 cronk

Just my opinion, in terms of pure ability I'd rate Hayne as one of the best playmakers in the game, he still needs to develop more ability to read the game, but in terms of what he can do I don't think sheens would be compromising too much by having Hayne in the halves.

Realistically, I can't see it happening any time soon though.

He lost me when he mentioned Todd Carney.........

and some of you are selling Cooper Cronk way to short.

Hayne is gifted .......a gifted playmaker?

I'm not so sure

He was lucky to play this SOO this year. He wasn't picked for game 1. If Dugan, Jennings and even Morris weren't injured for game 2 and had gone on uninjured to game 3

Hayne wouldn't have got a look in.

Pick and stick Ricky had already boxed himself into a corner for the series. I really can't see even an idiot like him could do a public back flip like that.

Well he already did by not picking Hayne in the first place because he saw him as a 5'8th not a fullback, and then going on to pick him on the wing in game 2 and in the centres in game 3. Hayne was always going to be there he just needed a wake up call.

You don't get selected for NSW on 13 occasions by the age of 23 if you're not one of the best players in the state. In comparison both Thurston and Cronk will be 29 next year so the chances of Cronk holding down a test halves position long term is very unlikely.

And does he have playmaking ability? Maybe you should check out Poupou's LBA thread.

Stuart had a get out of jail card. Injuries.

If he didn't have to cover for injuries would he have replaced Morris with Hayne because of Morris's poor game 1?

That's not the message he was trying to put out there ......with his "loyalties in selection" rhetoric prior to the series kicking off.

Opportunity knocked for Hayne......
