Quote from NRL.com article:
Warriors coach Brian McClennan said it was a hard loss to explain, but said the team lost its way when Matulino, Feleti Mateo and Russell Packer went to the interchange bench.
Seriously, do the coaches not talk to the players about this?
Apart from the fact we can't defend simple run around plays, i get so frustrated when i see Sione Lousi, Lillyman and Brown on the field at the same time. All go forward automatically goes away, as does any ball playing by the forwards.
Our lack of experience in the squad, and constant injuries to our remaining experienced players, is what's costing us these wins. Our players aren't mentally hard enough to stomp their opposition into submission. We constantly let the choke hold go just before they die.
INTERCHANGE USE IS DIABOLICAL
Anyone with eyes can see the enormous momentum dip when Package, Matulino and Mateo all come off at once - and by the time they return it's too late to save the match.
Bluey said as much in the post-match. Why he didn't figure it out before the match that his three biggest metre-eating forwards being off at once is a bad idea, I do not know.
If he does it again next week, he's officially dead to me.
He's been doing it every damn week since all three have been starting!Bluey said as much in the post-match. Why he didn't figure it out before the match that his three biggest metre-eating forwards being off at once is a bad idea, I do not know.

The guts of the matter is, imo, we have a hugely inexperienced team being led around by 3 clashing playmakers (mateo, johnson, maloney).
The ridiculous thing is - it's been happening every week for a couple of months now! Even in our victories, the interchange use has caused insane momentum dips. I just can't get my head around Bluey's continued use of it. Perhaps he's just ridiculously stubborn.
It seems to work just fine until Matulino and Mateo get benched and all our go-forward dies. I don't have a problem with the overdose of play makers, I have a problem with the interchange strategy and our bench not doing their job especially Brown.
Another big problem is that this team is desperately lacking an experienced leader or an enforcer who gets the boys going and pushes them forward. The good Warriors teams would have these sorts of players in spades (Campion, Cleary, Stacey, Price, Wiki, Luck). Mannering doesn't quite have that x-factor as a leader and the 'lead by example' doesn't always cut it.
This.
I'm also sick of Mannering receiving passes which should be directed to Hurrell.

In Bluey's defence he is 'investigating' this issue and one would expect him to reach this conclusion at some point, perhaps even this season.
Official Warriors Mad Monday Announcement:
"After a thorough investigation, we have concluded the interchange use for the last 15 rounds of the 2012 season was not 100% efficient. We will now thoroughly investigate the possible implications of adjusting this at some stage before or after round 13 2013. In the meantime, we will continue with our dependable back row of Mannering, Ben Henry and Elijah Taylor, with Feleti Martel used from the interchange bench for no more than 26 minutes per round."
LOL, nicely said. Was fustrating how many times he deprived Hurrell of the ball. Throw him on the left side and let him deprive Henry of the ball.
