The Uate to Fullback Thread

We need more set peices where Aku gets the ball in some space and one on one with a defender.

Hopefully this will happen more often as the season goes on...

When we are attacking, if we are not in the opposition 20 or 30 metre zone, Aku should play fullback with Darius on the wing. Aku should be on the shoulder of every foward sniffing around the ruck to get on the end of 2nd phrase play and offloads. When we get into the opposition 20/30 metre zone (where Darius is most effective) Darius and Aku swap back again.

Sure it's a right wing tactic (pun intented) but it could be genius. It could be 'yosh'

This is actually not such a bad idea in theory Yoshy, no dunce hat for you this time I say! But I will also say that swapping players around 1-2 times a set (across a large area like half the field - 30-40m) might not be entirely practical...so maybe you will never see something like that see the light of day. Especially these days with the attacking line very organised (see 'left' and 'right' centres) so they can go back to defending in the right spots as quickly as possible.

Who is out there like that?

I'm about 73.384% sure that Bennett and Aku are reading and keeping tabs on this thread. I believe it's my duty as a fan to let WB know what options are available to him:sarcasm:

Booo!!! Forum NAZIS!!!

Haha but yeah, no chance for Uate to fullback. Even if Darius gets injured the two Naquima brothers will have dibs on fullback.

Close the thread mods until I dig it up again.

Will you have the key to unlock the grand treasure chest that is the 'Uate to fullback' thread when you dig it up?

Look... I'm pissed off right now and I don't know how much logic is in what I'm about to say...

Darius was terrible today... Why does he take 10 seconds to play the fu*king ball? What the f*ck is he thinking about?

Having Aku at fullback probably isn't the answer but at this stage, neither is Darius...

How devastating our attack would be with T on the right, or Aku on the left.

Are they set in their positions now? Or is it more about the other players (Jim, Wes, Jr) being 'specialist' to their sides??

Damn I miss the team not having Macdougall playing one in from Uate. There combination up until the day Macdougall retired was first class. I may miss the mad dog, but I reckon Uate is missing him more!

I agree, there must be a good reason though cos from here it seems painfully obvious T and Aku need to be on the same side.

If Rick Stone was still coach Cooper Vuna would have returned to us this year. Alas... with Bennett here things change and i don't think either party would consider it possible now.

Pretty sure i get what you're saying on our side of the fence... but why would Vuna's side consider it impossible now? I mean, Rick is still heavily involved.

Because Bennett is of the opinion we need forwards for 2013 and beyond. Zeb Taia is Vuna's best friend and considering we haven't even started negotiations to re-sign Zeb i'd say Vuna would have some idea that a under rugby contract 200-275k winger is the least of our (Bennetts) concerns with McManus and Uate here.

I suggest Vuna would have returned if Stone was coach because he and Stone were very close. Stone adored Vuna like a son, i think he would have pushed the club hard to accommodate the unhappy Vuna to return. I know for a fact Vuna misses the Knights terribly.
