Good news for Balmain and for Wests Tigers.

Is this it? Is there an appeals process that disgruntled ratepayers can pursue?

Another classic was a submission from some old dyke who hadn't been slipped a length since when soufs last won the comp. She was going on about the impact of shops on Darling St and she twice mentioned the `effect a mall has had on the shops in Lithgow High St'. She was speaking out against the proposal and she was with the pixies and Benny said at audible level `keep talking you're doing a great job FOR us'
jesus she was a hoot!
she thought she had that case raped up with that Lithgow comment. Gotta love patty and the girls moaning and groaning.

man it feels good!

righto, my mistake
it was a great showing by tigers fans and legends.
Troddo's speech was great.
I had to laugh when one of the opposing people said "None of the members live in the local area, let alone on Waterloo St, the Terry St Triangle and the adjacent streets. The residents of these streets don't want this approved" to which I had to check my driver's licence and tigers membership card

alas that poor irish yuppie who had only been living in the area for two years was wrong.

go the tigers!

Not as funny as the turd who claimed rugby league will die and wont even be a sport and soccer will overtake it. f**king dumb cutie!!

'Landmark day' for Tigers after upgrade approved

AAP 04/06/08

http://rugbyleaguelive.com.au/Artic...rk_day_for_Tigers_after_upgrade_approved.aspx

A council decision supporting a multi-million dollar development of the Balmain Leagues Club site is a defining moment in the history of the famous rugby league club, Wests Tigers chairman David Trodden says.

Leichhardt Council approved the $130 million development in Rozelle, in Sydney's inner-west, with councillors voting 6-5 in favour of the application.

Mr Trodden said there were grave concerns Balmain Leagues Club would have gone broke had the council voted the other way - forcing it out of the joint venture with Western Suburbs.

"This is a landmark day in the proud 100 years history of the Balmain Tigers," he said.

"It was a long meeting - there was overwhelming support from everyone associated with the Balmain club from players, supporters to referees.

"This will allow for a mixed use re-development comprising of a new club, residential units, a supermarket and specialty retail."

The new development will include 160 apartments, 12 terrace houses, retail space and restaurants.

Fantastic news to start the day today! Council elections in September, hoping to see Jamie Parker campaigning down Balmain wharf like he was 4 years ago so I can throw the **** in the water.

Yes. If any prospective councillors in his seat have half a brain, they should use as part of their campaign tactics the fact he voted against the development. Sure, you might alienate a few people in the area, but it seems the overwhelming majority of people in the community were for the redevelopment. If I was running, I'd certainly be mentioning it anyways.

So does this mean that in a few years when Balmain are able to contribute millions of dollars a year to the WT, and Wests can't match, we're all able to LOL at westie and co after they got all excited over the past couple of months at the prospect of Balmain disappearing? ****tards.
