I was really expecting a lot more from that scene you are referring to.

Let's just say that it is really, really toned down from the comics.

I am actually looking forward to next week's episode, but I'm getting really tired of these mid season finales. Stupid holiday season.

I don't know who's worse out of Merle and the Governor

Yeah, they seem to have split sadistic elements of the Governor from the comics between him and Merle.
Governor's calm exterior is surely to crack at some point soon, the last few episodes have seen things not go his way yet maintaining his cool, I reckon he'll reach a breaking point soon (courtesy of Rick & friends) and go full raging psycho on Andrea (maybe finally giving her the scar she has in the comics, can't even remember how she got that)...

And Darryl and Merle might just become Darryl vs Merle (maybe in a zombie battle royale death match?)....

Interesting times coming up. Pity it's gonna be off air for a couple of months over the holidays.

As an aside I read a book by an author called rod redux called Mort that I think if you like the walking dead others will enjoy.

I downloaded it on my kindle for like $3
