The weekly Darius Boyd award

The criteria should broadly involve cop outs which cost your team mates because you are a soft, selfish jerk face.

When Darius tapped a kicked ball out over the sideline vs Raiders instead of trying to fall on it & get to ground before the chasers could get to him- that’s a Darius right there.

The aforesaid selling yourself pretending to go for intercepts, dishing off to wingers, tackle dodging etc. All a Darius.

That’s why I put the Dugan look-at-me play the ball in the same category- he negates any impact from his run & his team mates get smashed on the next play because he won’t just get up and play it for them. He’s sore and tired and special- surely he’s done enough with the run.

The fact Darius is captain cranks it up a notch. It does make him tough to beat but no one said winning a Darius should be easy!

Gidley gave everything he had in every single game he played. Was a great defender who cared about his club as much as anyone who ever wore the jersey.

Boyd is a petulant, pea hearted merkin who is afraid to put his body on the line and only cares about himself.

They could not be any more different as players.

Yeah Gidley might have been an ordinary player at times (and a very good one at others, mind you) but he always put in.

Can I nominate Matt Dufty for his effort against Sivo on his try line yesterday or am I being a bit too harsh?

Isaako and Roberts sent to train with reserve grade today, must be dropped this week. Why was Boyd not with them!!?

He should win it again for last night. Amazingly, his cowardly act won us the game.

He was also barely there for most of the game, threw two terrible forward passes and tried to milk a dive for a penalty. The guy loves to play for the ref instead of the game.

Two wins a row guarantees him the rest of the season though!

As a Manly fan that is a loss I am willing to eat!

I’d say Ash Taylor.

But Kikau running away from Paasi as he carried a couple of blokes 10m to score was pretty pathetic to say the least. Gallant effort from Kikau to win this week.

Dugan tries, he is just shit. More of a carige thread favourite than this one
He tries, a bit. But never when it's hard. But when he was at raiders the pure selfishness of his slow play the ball used to shit me to tears. It was all about Duges' moment on camera/with the ball. From what I've seen he hasn't changed. But maybe you're right, the Darius is another level.

But this week I'm supporting Kikau for the award. Taylor was just crap & confused. To win you need to actively avoid the contest or commitment. My vote is for Kikau.

Can Fergo be nominated for dropping 8 balls while sneaking looks at the defence in case they got a shot at his sore ribs & in the very same game that he shifts himself at centre to remind Freddy he used to be one? And I really think I left an extra "f" in that last sentence.
