I am a Cats fan. I used to live in Catsville.

They have a lot of enthusiastic kds and and now have King back in the ruck, from injury.

The game against the Bombers last night, showed the maturty in hte team and they are now being consistent.

I have to admit the Saints and Lions are probebly favs, but I think the Cats can finnsh in the top 4, which is a big step forward, from last season.

I honestly don't think that the Cats are a top 4 side. They seem to be lacking. They got up against us (Bombers), but the Bombers werent on song that night. I think that the top 4 will be (in no particular order): port, saints, lions and dockers.

Whilst the dockers inclusion there may be a surprise, they have a large number of home games, and considering fort subi is hard to penetrate for any melbourne team, they should conceiveably win 90% of all there home games, add in a few possible wins in melbourne against teams like Carlton etc. and they would have enough wins to get into the 4. Following them will be teams like Essendon (we WILL push for Freo's spot in the 4 though) and Melbourne, Sydney, Cats etc. The cats could conceivably make the 8 this year, but not the 4

Geelong will finish higher than the Scummers.

no way! The Bombers have a classy side, and WILL perform when it counts (too bad same can't be said for Richmond eh? ;-) )

McPhee gets better with every game, not to mention Hird, Lucas, Lloyd, Rioli.....Lovett-Murray is a gem, and Lovett will be even better when he gets a game (kicked a goal and was one of Bendigo's better players in the Ressies last week....)

Main thing the cats have going for them is a smart coach in Bomber Thompson. Their list has to be one of the worst in the AFL...They are way outperforming expectations at the moment, and will definately outperform expectations if they finish in the eight!

Write off the Cat list at your peril...

While Essendon has spent the last couple of years relying heavily on older player in (or past) their prime, whilst simultaneously raving-up their young VFL unknowns who promptly struggle when promoted to the top side; Geelong has been playing young footballers in prominent positions and is set to reap the rewards of this hard love process.

The Cats are clearly superior to the Bombers down back, are better than them in the centre, and have an edge in the ruck with Stephen King back. If they can snare a couple of capable forwards from somewhere they'll be a very tight package indeed. It is the greater experience of the essendon players, plus their greater forward potency that puts them on a par with Geelong at the moment. The Cats have the more promising list, however, and all it would take was for the (soon to retire) Hird to fall over for the cats to be ahead of the Bombers on the pecking order.

It is only the Saints and the Cats (among the VIC-based sides) that have sound long-term prospects in place at this point.
