i'll be honest, a few years ago when all the rage was there for david Williams (eg rep jerseys, all the fuss after the 2008 grand final etc) I didn't see it..

I saw him as a rather overrated muppet with bad facial hair.

kind of like a modern day Agro.

but watching the last few weeks of football, I have to say I've changed my tune.

class winger, someone i'd be happy to have at my club.

that try tonight just seals it.

He's always been a good player. People judge him on his soo performance which destroyed his confidence, then he was out for a year with his neck injury. He's got a great combination with Lyon.

A player that has always been loved by Manly fans. Everyone else judged him on a couple of dud performances for NSW (in which he still managed 2 tries) and ignored his good form. Plenty of talent, plenty of guts and a bloke that gives everything for the team.

I think Lyon covers a lot for his clueless defence but he is a good attacking player and brilliant finisher

He was terrible last week but that try he scored was phenomenal

Conversely, the tackle to stop him was piss poor.

According to the narrow minded commentators, he saved 3 tries in the first half (by being 3rd man in  )

They didnt say how ordinary the effort was on The Wolfman.

You need to watch more before you comment. Some very good reads have saved Manly when they've had 3 on 1 against Williams. 2008 GF he made a couple of exceptional first half reads when he was outnumbered 3 on 1 or 2 on 1 both from kicks and through the hands. Saved an almost certain try tonight reading a Reynolds pass.

Quite remarkable. It will go down in history that growing a beard and being a 'wolfman' gimmick got a player an Australian and NSW jumper.
