There was no women raped - detective

I don't think this changes anything much to be honest. We've got the guy who led the investigation for three days saying nothing happened, and we've already had his superior who led the investigation afterwards say that something did happen. Now I don't know what really happened and I doubt anyone in this thread does either, but I don't think it helps anyone involved to bring all of this stuff up again, and that means the players, the fans, the club, and the woman involved.

Youre club and its fans are still scum as far as Im concerened.....you seem to be pretty picky when it comes to the media eh...yeah, only when it suits your argument.

As Cammo said...no one will EVER know...except those concerened.

Rene playing tomorrow is he?

The disappointment you're obviously feeling just oozes out of your post. Quite hilarious actually.

Make sure you and your mate Ray cling to the 'truth' and keep fighting that honourable fight that you're fighting.

Stand your ground, hold your head high, and...never give up.

Believe what you want fool.
You've borrowed Dodgeys amateur shrink hat I see...multi skilled?

The fact you find it hilarious your club and a section of fans (thats you in case you missed it) is held in contempt and disgust by the greater majority just reinforces and confirms those views.

Most of my family and friends are not Bulldogs supporters but they hold no contempt towards me or the club at all.

I am not sure where you are getting your statistics from.

I am not denying that the club has had major issues and I don't really care that you hate the club, but please don't try and speak for people you don't know.

Doesn't change anything eh?

Lets see...apart from the Bulldogs players and the Bulldogs club (you know, the people who actually know the truth of the matter), who exactly claimed that no rape took place and that the Bulldogs players were innnocent? The fans...we hardly count do we? The answer is NO ONE. Now someone - and not just any someone, a senior police officer - has come out and made these claims. I think that just changes things just a little.

Oh, and FYI, that superior officer you're talking about might just be the one and only Detective Chief Inspector Jason Breton. I wouldn't trust him to write a parking ticket.

I find your attitude hilarious. I think my post explains that fairly well.

You need to step back and have a look at yourself. You're getting in a sh*tty mood because it's becoming clearer that no rape took place (which is the best outcome for EVERYONE). Jesus christ.

Actually it's not hilarious: it's f*cking sad. Very sad.

 your a f**king imbecile nathen b, the only thing known about this case is there was not enough evidence to proceed with the investigation, that could mean nothing untoward occurred, or it could mean that there is simply not enough evidence to lay charges, but lack of evidence doesn't prove nothing happened.

None of us will probably ever know what really happened.

We have two cops opinions...one say something probably happened, the other said it looks like nothing (serious) happened.
Thats what we have, and from that you get....
" because it's becoming clearer that no rape took place "
I mean...youre really not looking at this whole thing unbiasedly eh?

I'd trade that amateur shrinks hat in for a clowns hat if I was you, just because you say Im in a sh*tty mood doesnt mean i am...... a bit like when you say "Its clear no rape took place"....say it enough & you'll believe it.

Its called an ostrich mentality. Youre not as clever as you think you are, nat...nice try though.

Yeah, and as you would know if you bothered to read anything I say, I'm not happy about it.

Your club and its fans are still scum as far as Im concerened.....you seem to be pretty picky when it comes to the media eh...yeah, only when it suits your argument.

You can think all you like - "no one will ever know"...

What gives you the right to judge them guilty. What do you base it on.

And don't give me bullsh*t that you never said they were, because you know that's what you think. What's more, it's a baseless opinion.

The problem isn't that we think nothing happened. It's that you think something did, based on train-wreck media reports and patchy witness claims.

REALITY CHECK:
The alleged victims story failed to remain consistent.
Alibi's of accused players checked out.
The same evidence said to support rape occurring is the same evidence supporting consensual sex.

On the scale of "happening to not happening", to put it basically, once upon a time it was hovering around 50-50. But based on the above realities and the recent comments from the initial investigator, the pendulum has well and truly swung. True, we may never know what truly happened, and there is still a window indicating the possibility of such an event occurring, but why is it up to the narks on this forum to swing the judgement to the negative and attempt to enforce this opinion as fact? It's sad that that is how cynical some have become.

Same old rot I am reading from everyone.

Read carefully those who are slow-minded.

1. The alleged victim did not mention to the police that she had sex with 3 or more players that night. She withheld this from her initial statement.
2. Kylie Hubbard, her best friend, contradicted the version of events. Kylie stated that she was told a different version, AND that the victim lied to police as to why she was going to the hotel
"I left my wallet there"
Hubbard was told by the victim she was going to see the players
3. The victim could not identify the players by photo. She was only able to say them by name. Seems odd doesn't it?
4. Police officers wanted to charge her during the case for wasting police time
5. Her version of events would have caused her severe injuries - she did not have any
6. Two days later the club received a call saying 25 grand would make the allegations go away.

Result: Lack of evidence.

McEvoy and other officers said they believed no rape occurred, but some had a vendetta to get a result. Breton was a prat for saying a rape had occurred. His personal feelings blinded his judgement as he knew the victim well. McEvoy even said the case could have been dropped earlier, but again, the hierarchy wanted a result so they wouldn't look stupid. They look even more stupid now.

Lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean innocence. In our society it is, and purely in this case, you can see that it does.

Get over it. I'm someone who doesn't have blue and white glasses but hte facts are there.

I am not going to have an opinion either for or against the allegations. I will leave that up to the police. That being said, just because there is not enough sufficient evidence to prosecute doesn't me it didnt happen. Serial killers are not arrested after one murder because of insufficient evidence. Extreme example i know, but the point needs to be made that because there was insufficient evidence doesn't mean that the woman lied about rape.

But I will say there is a great possibility that she is. To Malcom Noad's comment which stated asking reasons why the investigation wasn't stopped after two months without finding evidence, it is my opinion that that comment shows a great amount of ignorance to investigation. How would you feel if a crime was committed against you, and the police just gave up after a short while into the investigation? The police had a duty to investigate this fully and sensitively because of the nature of the crime.

The only people who are in the wrong are the media. But guess what people? The media are a bunch or morons who write stories that will sell papers and it worked. Everyone was wrapped up in the story and read or listened to opinion pieces. Media did a bad job, but it is there job.

You fail to see the point.

If i said John Howard raped me, and there was no evidence but Johnny could not verify his whereabouts (or he could have been with me), then the case may be dropped due to lack of evidence.

The lack of evidence and contradicting points make it clear. The police do not declare innocence. That is not their job- that is for the courts.

"That statement there, what I have given you now, is the complete opposite to what my boss, my commander, was telling the media. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that is mine."

This guy is entitled to his opinion on the case, just like Breton is and also the rest of us. You'll find in pretty much any police investigation that detectives and investigators have different opinions of what happened in a case as they search for the truth.

For the people that persist with 'he says one thing, the other cop says the opposite'...

What you're failing to acknowledge is that McEvoy is also suggesting a reason why Breton is saying the opposite; namely, the huge external pressure applied to the investigation team. Now, whether he's right or not is another story, but I don't see Breton providing any explanation as to why Mecvoy might thinks what he does. Actually, he has been almost silent on the issue (which, given his intelligence levels, is a good thing for everyone).
