Brilliant post.
I just left the game, my company is a sponsor and I was in the chairman's Lounge today.
Not one, I mean one Board member stayed back after the loss to speak to sponsors and supporters.
Says all you need to know about this discrace of a club.
Why would they stay back?? This is a successful year based on finishing ahead of last year, some new players and **retaining a coach that was in high demand by other clubs.

**This part is BS of course.

What could have been this season with Demetriou as coach...
Top 4 without a doubt. He has credentials to back him . 2016 NSW cup & interstate cup champions & in 2015 in the Queensland cup winners as well . One of the biggest mistakes was letting him go . We look like & are novices led by Doust & his cronies or should I say crownies. :rage:

Coach McGregor routinely professes his love for the Dragons. He is an Illawarra league legend and every club needs committed ex-players around the club helping to enhance the history of the club and assist with driving the culture. However that does not mean that these very same players have the skill set to coach at an elite level.

The love and affection Coach McGregor feels for the team will be tested closely in coming days and plays out as follows:

Scenario 1:

Coach McGregor thanks the club for the opportunity but concedes that after 3 terrible seasons that he is not the man to take the club forward. He is graciously thanked by all and sundry and is always welcomed back as a club legend. He resigns.

Scenario 2:

Coach McGregor shows his absolute selfishness and delusional nature and refuses to accept he needs to accept responsibility and grimly hangs on to his position daring the club to terminate his services.

In the next month or so we are going to find out the following:

i. How much Coach McGregor really loves the club; and gracefully resigns.
ii. How much assistance coaches Hornby and Young really love the club; and gracefully resign.
iii. How much CEO Johnston really loves the club and privately requests that said coach and assistance coaches gracefully resign.
iv. How much respected consultant Coyne really loves the club and supports CEO Johnston's private requests that said coach and assistance coaches gracefully resign.

An interesting test awaits CEO Johnston and consultant Coyne. Both of these gentleman have enjoyed strong corporate careers before returning to the club and I wonder if they would accept such poor performances in a corporate worlds as have been submitted by said coach and assistant coaches over these past 3 seasons?

WE ARE ABOUT TO LEARN ALOT ABOUT THE CULTURE OF THE CLUB AND THEIR EXPECTATIONS OF SUCCESS IN THE NEXT 3-4 WEEKS. SADLY I THINK WE WILL BE LET DOWN BADLY.

This is why I struggle to watch the press conferences. I cant stomach Mary and his smug grin as a representative of a head in the sand culture.

Try and stick to the subject matter.
I know it's a bit hard for you but signing anyone of the people you want will make not 1 piece of difference in respect of contesting the comp let alone winning it whilst Mc Fookknuckle remains at the helm.
I would rather see them all play good footy at other clubs than come here and become B graders.
Why do you want to kill so much talent by having them sign up with us?

Mann needs to put on a bit of size for next year, he will be a great utility and centre.

Hunt / Widdop and No McCrone, 2018 will be our year!

If the club was worried about success and a losing culture image they wouldn't have appointed a f**kwit like McGregor as head coach in the first place?
This is all on Doust and the board and has been for a long time now!

Nothing will happen. The only formal link I keep to the Dragons is membership of the St George Leagues Club in the vain hope that one day my vote will help fix this sordid mess. Looking forward to what happens when we reportedly have to pay back money to the NRL in October.
Same here.

Agree nighty I love him a club legend but to to slow he has to go

2018 -
Dufty - needs to focus on just running the ball from kick returns & not wander across field to link with a winger. If he runs he makes 20m or more, then a winger retains the momentum or we string some passes together. Whoever has coached this into Dufty needs to be told to let him just use his natural ability. The start of a set from kick returns is so important, but some genius has the Dragons plodding downfield like chess pieces who are restricted in their movement.

Nightingale - I've been a massive fan of his enthusiastic play & amazing ability to finish tries when seemingly cornered over a great career, but it's time to upgrade for a younger & faster model. I'll be brutally honest, some of the opportunities he receives would've been simple tries 90% of the time for someone with good speed, but he manages to score from 50% of them through his ability to compensate for that. The approach to his career is a perfect example of the blind loyalty that is applied to players & coaches.

Macdonald - needs to back himself with his size & also use his ability to leap for kicks. I think we might have signed the wrong Titans winger....

I'd be giving Garrick, Herbert & Lomax games on the wing to ease them into NRL. The approach of the back 3 on kick returns sets the tone for the team's attack. From 2009 to 2011, the Dragons were clearly the best in this area. On today's effort, they would be almost the worst. The team was consistently struggling to make it to their own 40m line - that is not enough in the NRL (especially against a tram with a poor kicking game & ordinary kick chase)
