Think we must immediately re-sign Potter for 1 more year

I've been pondering tonight whilst watching the Manly- Eels game WT situation and I can see no alternative to immediately re-sign Potter for 1 more year. No more than that and give him a chance to gather the wreckage of this imploded season into 2015.

t will be much, much too late to wait until seasons end to judge Potter and the team, if it goes to then we have lost any chance to recruit on the remaining talent on the out of contract meat market.

With the loss of Anasta and Fulton through injury and then retirement and probably Moltzen too with his recurrent knee difficulties WT lack of experienced NRL footballers is laughable if not so serious. There is no-one to back up Farah and/or provide an alternate leadership role when he is out of sorts. (I dont think Farah has been totally there since his mum died). Our remaining older players- Halatau, Galloway, Richards, Blair and Lawrence are not leaders (or have not shown it to date), and the younger ones have not yet thrown up a leader - possibly Brooks but it is too soon to throw that on his shoulders.

We have to try to buy someone of the available market that can provide soem laternate leadership and be experienced in a position we need- centre or strike backrow. Damned if I know who though. Zerotackle has an item Farah has approached WT management to sign Willie Mason- on no accounts should that be coutanced either. Farah cannot be allowed to run the club playing roster. That is the coaches call.

As an aside I would not support the option of immediately namking either Kidwell or Payten. Their disloyalty should not be rewarded.

What a crap situation we have put ourselves in. Didnt anyone think of the looming recruitment problem?????????

Unfortunately or fortunately (viewpoint), Potter is a dead man walking. I agree re: Payten and Kidwell.

Who is available, coach wise?

We need a Jamie Soward type player (still brillant and experienced)

I'd bring in Neil Henry good tactical coach with young players, Griffin also looks like he could develop this Roster. I'll drop my membership if Potter gets an extension.

I think we are in this weird limbo at the moment. We have a new board supposedly coming in shortly, so the current board doesn't want to make any decisions. We haven't got a coach signed up for 2015, how the hell are we supposed to recruit anyone?

This would be my dream team. Henry has got results wherever he has gone.

Griffin is absolutely loved by his players but tactically seems to have no idea. He would be a perfect assistant IMO

Neil Henry is a must. If Neil signs with the gold coast, we should sign Jason Demetriou from nthn pride. With Michael Hagan, Daniel Anderson or Anthony Griffin as a assistant coach.

One thing is for certain is we must have a coach signed up before Grand final may, you just cant go into a off season with the place in limbo.

We either have to sign Potter for two years and back him to the hilt or we sack him tomorrow and start the process of getting a new coach and have him in the job and up and running within a month.

Our 2015 season must start in two weeks or we will be right behind the eight ball

I have no problems if Potter maintains the job but if we do that he needs to be told that he needs to improve his team selections especially the outside backs.

I also think that there should be some accountability for his stuff-ups throughout the year so if he doesn't get the job I'm cool with that as well.

Potter had my total support til last night.

During last night games coverage the cameras went to the sheds and we saw Arthur addressing the players, obviously couldn't hear what was being said but his body language was direct, to the point and a little aggressive. He had the total undisrupted attention of all his players, what followed was one of the best halves of football this year.

I'm afraid to say the rumours may be true, Potter may just be too damn nice to be a first grade coach.

I wouldn't re-sign Potter he's too soft. Especially for this young group of players, we need a coach who wont take any crap and make these little shits work their asses off

umm, what ever happened there? There were rumours, were they just that? I guess the story about them simply got lost in all the talk and crap about, Farah, Tallis, Potter, the weatherman, etc.

I have always thought that Payten was the coach in waiting. I recall over hearing some old guys at Leichhardt Oval last year at a NSW Cup game talking about him and how he, Payten, works so well with the Islander/Kiwi boys, he is a motivator, teacher in the Bennett mould and they play accordingly, was what they were saying.

Re the game on Thursday night, can anyone recall the vision of Potter walking up the stairs and past Grant Mayer, in the box? Mayer didn't look impressed.

This is one out of left field but I'd hope someone the experience of Steve Folkes will put his hand up. He's currently on the video referees panel. The bloke got the best out of Centerbury year in, year out when he was there.

I know he's been out of the game for a while but we've seen the problems that a rookie coach can bring this season.

If the only alternative is another rookie then I hope Potter stays on.

Regarding recruitment - the experience we'll lose in Anasta and Fulton will need to be replaced with blokes who have the runs on the board.
