Watching Fox Sports News.

Clips of Carney, winning the Dally M. However, the WORST part is the bit they keep playing over and over and over is him, at the Raiders, after we'd given him the bajillionth chance going 'I took footy for granted and I owe the Raiders blah blah blah' just before he went and f**ked it all up.

We took the moral high ground. We did the right thing. And this is how it works out.

Hooray.

Campese is a better player imo.

Don't forget carney has a very handy half back inside of him and a premiership winning 5/8 at lock. He still can't control a game on his own yet and his defence is average.

Carney has been good this season but not great.

Carney is what he is. A player who will win games but is a support player rather than a player who will grab the game by the neck. He is very good at what he is and is the deserved Dally M winner.

We should have gotten something out of it. I feel the same way about Cronulla and Bird. Salary cap concessions or something like that would have taken a lot of the bad taste of the situation out.

I guess what pisses me off is he's never said sorry.

The impression he gives is that he's angry for 'what the Raiders did to him'.

I can't get over that.

yeah it was sh*tty to watch ay. let us never forget that the guy got banned from a town that houses ivan milat.

how about this. 4th vs 5th on friday see's the sacked bird against the sacked seymour.

weve won 12 games in 2 years thanks to our gutless management, and bad player behavior.

rapes my insides it does.

you guys should win though and chookies lose and then he's outta the finals so.

alls good

Still sh*ts me how he couldn't get off the piss to stay at the Raiders - but goes to the Rorters and can turn his life around. Still, he's had a great year and deserves the award - I must admit I thought he wouldn't last half a season but he's proved me wrong. He'll be missing wearing the green jumper when we win the Grand Final though :D

As I said I have as much sympathy with you guys and Bird. The clubs who did the "right" thing should be rewarded. What is the point in cracking down on player behaviour if the vultures will just circle and pick them up.

I stand by the fact the Raiders and the Sharks should have been given concessions or something for it.

Ah well... easy to get off the grog when you can just swap it for something else...

Not going to say more than that as I don't want my posts deleted again :)

Anyway, Carney is a f**kwit and the NRL are a bunch of gutless merkins... Basically I see all this as saying you can do whatever you want, get a years holiday, then come back and win stuff... Great message to give out to all the kiddies...

Sharks should have realised that footy is more important than being politically correct softcocks, and done what every other club does - the old "stood down indefinitely" rubbish...Bird and Seymour = successful Sharks imo. Mind you, Bird f**ked them hard by pinning it on his housemate. That's where it all went wrong. If Bird just gave a standard denial they could have stood him down til the finals and all been right. Seymour was sacked for some pissweak nonsense iirc.

Canberra I feel sorry for, stuck between a rock and a hard place, Carney had something like 35 offences didn't he?

Carney had enough chances , it took the Raiders to sack him , the courts to ban him from Goulburn , the English immigration not allow him to play in the UK , a stint at a local club and working for a living.

for him to wake up to himself, stop drinking.

And he thanks Brian Smith. TC you're a d*ck head

TC you could of stop the drinking after the 31st offence and you would still be at your junior club who had supported you since you were 15.

Im happy he has got his life back on track but FMD TC is f*kn slow.

seymour was sacked because he had a drinking problem. basically at the time that we were getting killed in the media and LG left he got on the drink when he had been warned and then we sacked him.

we should have supported him but instead we threw him under the bus.
as for f**king bird.

youll never be able to convince me that we did the right thing.

Next time don't roll out the red carpet for a player and give him a bajillion chances before you decide to take the hard stand, the Raiders management are as much to blame as anyone.

Meh...water under the bridge for me. I'm glad that TC has turned his life around. And let's face it, it's one of those things. He could have had 70 chances and would have still done the same thing. Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone to make a real change.

He's played well this year and deserves a bit of credit. Frankly, I'd be happy if he never wore the green again though. I'm proud of our club to take the hard line. Even when they knew it would have depleted our chances of winning on the field.

Our club culture has really matured since he's left.. And I'm not naive, it takes one bad egg to stuff it all up. So it's a week by week thing with us and every other club.

Good Luck Todd, hope you have 'genuinely' sorted your sh*t out. As for us.... I believe we are a better team without him.

This stuff about him turning his life around and being a great guy is rubbish. Anyone who has spent 5 minutes with the bloke will tell you he's a tool of the lowest kind. In the short time it cost us but long term getting rid of him was the best decision our club has made in years.

I agree. If I hear somebody call this the "feelgood story of the season" one more time I'm going to vomit. The only people who "feel good" about it are the Roosters, and they're happy because they got a star player for next to nothing. But, odds are he's going to f**k up again so you're right, in the long term it's the best thing that's happened to us.

Even if he does stuff up again the Rooters have shown their hand today that they would'nt sack him.

They only sack unknowns.

The Canberra system turned TC into the player his is today and that's a good sign for what the club is doing. When he was with us he was a protected species which turned out to be a very bad play by management imo. It could have been handled differently along time ago but its in the past now. I still hate seeing him in any jersey but a Raiders one, he's a fantastic talent and good luck to him. If he deserved the Dally M or not im not sure, I dont watch a lot of Roosters games.
