How did this thread turn into a discussion about the Roosters?

If no one minds me getting back on topic - Great news about Thorn! He is an excellent player, an enforcer on the field who intimidates with his defence.

Welcome back Brad!

Nah, we don't Wendell back.

Thorn switched codes for the least amount of money compared to league $.

It's good to see rugby league getting back stars which union have made failures.

I dont know how they do it...

Brisbane dont need Thorn - Thaiday, Costigan, Parker, and that other big young dude (name escapes me) are all guns.....

How old is he? I thought he would be about 30. Its just that a 3 year contract seemed like a bit long.

I wouldn't want it.

He's bitched at rugby league in his bullsh*t columns in newspapers.

kris_man, you're an idiot. We're allowed to lose 2 stars, 1 high price, 1 great potental and not allowed to sign Roosters (and broncos) reject Hodges and Thorn?

It's great to see Thorn back at the Brisbane Broncos.

It is a shame that he can't play for the Kiwis. But I'm damn sure he will be wearing Maroon next year. :x If the Kiwis had half the players they should have they'd be lethal.

And we wonder why our international scene isn't as competitive as it should be.

I dont believe for one monent that Hodges is a reject. Just take a look at how well he plays in the finals, the Tri-series SHOULD be his goal, he's talented enough. But there's not much you can do when the guy wants to leave to go back home. I believe this guy is going to hurt us bad next year, as will losing Hegarty. We wont be the same team next year, far too many changes. So im hoping Justin is genuine in his desire for another premiership .. this kid has the talent to bring that about imo.

P.S. signing Brad Thorn is an awesome replacement for Tallis by the Broncs ... well done.

Very Very true.

All players born in NZ should be forced to play for us.

Not only forced but they should want to play for NZ of their own accord. It is a disgrace that interstate football takes precidence over international. We need more focus on international footy. I love the Anzac test that is a great start, but it just isn't the same unless there is a test series.

Hopefully the Tri Nations will help the situation but it is also hosted in the northern hemisphere and we need football in Australia and New Zealand where the public can see and enjoy it.

I believe we could have a real good trans tasman series with an Origin feel to it.

International football is going to go no where until players like Thorn, Hunt, Mason, Tahu and other suspect start putting their nation first. The Kiwis would be able to field a killer team.

Marshall and Williams have my total respect for being patriotic.

Well said Diehard ... you said it all mate. But i think the international game comes under the News control doesnt it ? It'll never happen because they simply dont care.

Nah international rugby league is under ARL control, at least as far as Australian teams and being an integral member of the organisation more alusive than Al Quada, Christopher Skase, KAOS, Where's Wally and Sally Robbins combined, the Rugby League International Federation.

But you are right, it wont happen because News dont care. And News/NRL have massive influence over the international game. The ARL are basically the hood ornament of international rugby league. :x
