3 great outside backs who all went onto to stellar careers and rep honours

Brian Winney & Dinny O'Bryan both very nippy halves in the mid 60's who went to parra & Norths. George Taylsforth, Alan Mc kean who played one test for Australia and of course Denis Preston !

Interesting when Canterbury knocked us over in 67 Taylforth, Ryan and Greaves were all playing against their former club.
Boy we were strong back then to let such players go.

When trying to get an NRL contract we said he could come and play for nothing and the Dogs offered him money.

Morris twins, Bird, Merrin the one and only they should've thrown the kitchen sink at was Boyd.
He was pivotal to our sides of 09, 10 and it has all been downhill since his departure.
I know he's Benny's son, but money talks!

Brett and Steve Morris were shafted by the club. They gave the club their good years then when the club needed to show loyalty let them down forcing them to leave. Probably same with Josh Morris but hey Saints decided to throw the money at Gaz and let Josh go. You can blame King Bennett for that not the club. Bennett had a 3 year plan and that is what he gave the Saints, 3 good years.

Saints also picked up handy players for other clubs :-

Weyman
Boyd
Costigan
Jeremy Smith

Pity all those were done when King Bennett had his 3 year plan and they left straight away or soon after.

I remember reading an article that claimed that Boyd had actually agreed to remain at the club, but this was predicated solely on whether Bennett also extended his tenure.

He didn't, so Boyd went 'tah tah'.

You're wrong about the other two. Scott wasn't offered a contract (at least not one worthy of his stature under Price), and Costigan went to Newcastle BEFORE Bennett was appointed their coach.
