How do these guys keep getting caught?

I've been pissed out of my mind in public more times than I can remember (not proud of it tbh) and I don't recall the police ever being a factor.

Do the cops over there have a whole section (unit? squadron?) devoted to arresting drunk NRL players?

The problem was if he was running around and running fast down a busy street that is the danger. If he slid onto the road and got bumped by a car and wasted everyone's time.

If he was just loitering on the spot that would be no problem.

We could have seen this coming.

A month ago on NRL Saturday on Fox they were saying that ex badboy 5/8 Todd Carney could have been Dally M player of the year.

Benji Marshall 5/8 was acting like a big head and punched that other guy.

On Matty Johns Show Paul Kent said the Cowboys Coach might sack Thurston.

He was on crutches, doubt he was running that fast! A few things for me:
1. Off season, having beers with mates, not really causing any major problem, left the casino quiety when asked to do so, don't Brisbane police have more important things to do?
2. Fricking idiot is injured and supposed to be in recovery. I am sure getting rat ar5ed and larking around isn't on the physios treatment plan
3. He is a high profile, high paid player, he should know better and understand that with a big pay packet comes responsibility to the club and game.

Willies take on it, he'll be ok in Hull where Saturday nights can be very rowdy around the town centre!

Red faces all round as JT is cleared

THE charges against Johnathan Thurston have been dropped - and it's the Queensland police and the raft of Thurston's critics who could find themselves in bother. This column first told you about the overreaction to Thurston's night out a few weeks back - for a start there were 11 police on the scene to arrest a bloke who was not that drunk and certainly not misbehaving enough to warrant what happened. Now there is talk about possible internal action against at least one of the police involved in the Thurston arrest. Those close to the case have provided some interesting information and when that comes out this will become more than just a sports story. It has the potential to cost police their jobs. My information is there is little doubt that Thurston was targeted by the police. The Cowboys reacted to media reports and based much of their initial actions on those incorrect reports. There is thought to be defamation action being taken against some media outlets for the wildly inaccurate stories and columns they published.

No red faces, the charges were dropped (Could be something as simple as witnesses refused to give evidence). It is a simple offence and would have resulted in a minimal fine, if that. is it worth the courts time to see this through?

Based on weidler's comments anyone would have thought he was there & witnessed the whole incident & he has a contact within the QLD Police, or he could be talking oout his ass, surely weidler would never speak in such a way. Would he ?.

Always was a nothing incident, it appears the only ones to overact were the cowboys & the media.

That's because police also enjoy publicity.
Do you think the public will be happier knowing they're catching random blokes or high profile blokes like Thurston?
It's a pretty smart thing tbh, focus on the high profiles and make people think that your actually doing your job when it's headlines the next day.

No not at all, there are many reasons why charges would/could be dropped.

If someone has acted illegally then I hope they would face the consequences. If they lose their job as a result of their actions, stiff shyte.

Whoever they were, I do not know them. I dont consider strangers as a mate. So they are no mates of mine.

Jarrod Choker should be exempted from any national law, because he did the world a favor by handing the new choke tag to the raiders.

THURSTON SET UP

WITH league reeling from its latest and most bizarre scandal, there was almost another major issue for the game to cope with - involving Johnathan Thurston. A man calling himself Ben rang current affairs programs and newspapers claiming that Thurston tried to remove a woman's bra in Brisbane on Cox Plate day. Ben wanted significant money to tell his story. Another drama would have been the end for Thurston at the Cowboys, which is why news organisations and the club were keen to know more. Ben first claimed to have video of the alleged incident, which began when Thurston was asked to pose for a photo with a woman called Kayla. When Ben was asked to produce the video, he had only a still photo - the one Thurston had agreed to pose for. The Cowboys investigated and what did they find? Thurston's watch strap had caught in the girl's bra strap, causing it to snap against her skin. That was it. End of story. Kayla thought it was funny but Thurston is fuming that his name has been dragged into another controversy.

I feel sorry for Thurston, he doesn't deserve all this sh*t happening to him.
I can perfectly understand him being furious about what has happened.

More evidence that we should not give a sh*t about the so called 'scandals' the media tells this nation they should be up in arms about.

the media have been fixated with illegal boat people for a decade and its been number one story over that time. It is a minor story that has zero impact on the vast majority of Australians everyday lives yet they hang on to it like a dog with a bone. They do the same with sportsmen scandals. Why anyone still buys a newspaper is beyond me.

C'mon that's low, there's no reason to bring Joel Monoghan into this
