SBW is a complete package...if he was off contract right now you'd have 16 clubs going head over heels to sign him...wouldn't surprise me if he went for something ridiculous like 800k. On and off the field he is becoming a great role model. He'd attract new fans and sponsors to any club. The Dogs were lucky in a way because SBW came off contract and other clubs were still concerned about his injuries, but he appears to be past that now.

While I agree that Thurston might be a bit more influential on the field, SBW seems to have him in consistency at the moment, as well as being a better all round package. You'll still have clowns on here though who think Mateo is a better player

Not this again...They're two different players. Plus SBW has far more experience. Comparing them is like comparing Lincoln Withers to Cameron Smith.

Halves win premierships, forwards whilst they are important are not the most important factor. Take Manly for instance, most would agree they had a superior pack than Melbourne but the Storm had Cronk and Inglis in the halves and that won them the title

Whilst Manly boasts a great forward pack...How can you in all honesty say that a team with the likes of Smith, Crocker, Lima, White, J. Smith, Hoffman and more isn't a great forward pack?

With less than 4 mins to go & trailing by 4 points against Souths he chip kicked from about 30 meters out straight to the Souths outside backs on tackle 2 with no NQ players chasing. They made about 40 meters in the two previous plays. That was a SHOCKER!! He also did something similar against Melbourne.

Most of the test players backed up impressively..... He didn't.

If they were picking the Queensland team on form they would have Greg Inglis at 6 Scott Prince at 7.

The best player in the world can't be a #12 or #8. They run meters, offload, break tackles but if you talk about a complete player, SBW can not organise a team, he doesn't have a kicking game, or he doesn't have a long passing game. Thurston can't defend, SBW can't run a team.

Halfbacks will be the difference between scoring 1-2 tries and 4-5 tries. Thurston may not be in the best form but he is up there along with Prince, Lockyer as the best players in the world.

If you want a complete player with kicking game, organising skills, good defender, break tackles, and offload at will.... mate look no further than Mateo!!!

Yes on teh SBW v Mateo argument, they are different players who play completly different style. SBW is high contact, beating players one-on-one to offload to an outside man. Mateo uses footwork and a fend to stand up and get away form players. SBW will make 15 bone rattlers, Mateo will make 35 tackles.

BUT if you want to compare Mateo has 8 Dally M points, how many does SBW have?

Thurston is number one. I'd rather him than Smith and Sonny Bill day. His competitivness and matching winning ability is second to none.

His teams position on the ladder really backs that up for you.

I will agree that his ears are second to none.
