This is the thing you guys on here just don't get. It's not about one-off results like the World Cup, it's about cultures. There is a culture that any Queenslander grows up with and that is that if anything bad ever happens to a New South Welshmen it's a win for the good guys. They are the enemy, someone to despise, a bunch of blokes representing a pack of arrogant wankers. We could beat them 60 times in a row and the joy wouldn't wear off.

New Zealand on the other hand is just our annoying little brother. They always have been, and always will be. No one cares about beating the kiwis, it's fun and all, but it's no real achievement.

Naturally, kiwis treat a test like Queenslanders treat an origin, and good on them. But the only way international league will ever matter is if England (or a country bigger than us) becomes a legitimate threat. Untill that day, we are wasting our time, and anyone who suggests getting rid of origin to make these tournaments more valuable is deluded.

ROFL, look at that giant chip on your shoulder! You are one sad Queenslander.

lmfao... the dumbest comment ive seen on these forums in a while.

i guess the size of NZ must change when RU internationals start... because the All Blacks dont seem to have any trouble filling up Homebush or Suncorp.

and they havent been world champions for over 20 years...

Out of curiosity what is so stupid about my post? Bare in mind, I'm simply expressing logic to explain the reasoning for crowds. You guys often complain about promotion and marketing and all sorts of things, but the answer is written right there in my post. Face it, to the general public (and try to see if from their eyes, not a one-eyed league optimist's perspective) beating the kiwis in rugby league or cricket means nothing.

And Shiznit, I can once again offer logic to you (which I realise doesn't get received well in this forum) regarding union crowds. People see the All Blacks as a challenge because we all know it's what New Zealanders live and breathe for. The simple fact of beating the NZers at the game they idolise (in a game that barely makes our top 4 sports). The general public know that NZ don't love league as their #1 game.

Try to take emotion out of it for a second and think and you may understand the point I'm trying to make. It'd be nice if league was stronger internationally, but by the same token I don't really care what sport other countries play, as long as it's still played here I'm happy.

So do you sit around the telly with your mates during the holidays and cheer on the NSW road toll, loving each death because it is a "Win for Qld"?

FMD Paully, you are one sick, pathetic douche if you actually feel this way about your fellow Australians on a day to day basis.

Take a good look at yourself

Joker, exactly! I generally don't generally enjoy meeting mexicans/crow eaters/sand gropers cause they all follow AFL and as a RL fan I have nothing to talk to them about and don't feel I have much in common other that sharing the same island. But theres always cricket and if they are OK you don't hate them.

But the bannana benders attitude to SOO is ridiculous. Because somebody lives south of the Tweed they're to be hated? Don't get that one. Arogant NSW? Well maybe some individuals, but this Paullyboy doesn't reflect Qlders does he? Lockyer sounds like a legend to me, so they can't all be Paullyboys.

Lucky me missus convinced me to move to NZ rather than where I wanted to go, QLD......mind you the weather sux here.

:lol: Way to take one comment from my post far too seriously. Clearly my comment is based on footballing rivalries, rather than real life. But either way, I guess you've made up your mind so why bother trying to explain it.

Nothing is forever. There is no guarantee that NZ will always be weaker than Australia in RL and I find it hard to believe that any Aussie league supporter would stomach their national side losing its dominance for very long.

True, didn't Australia fail to beat Gt Britain for 30 years straight, lucky they didn't have an arrogant attitude about playing us like we do today about playing other nations.

You attemtped to compare the competitiveness of SOO to Internationals. NZ have won more in the last 5 years then NSW has and i don't see that changing in the near future. NSW continues to suck whilst NZ continues to get better.

You're right though the general rugby league fan is barely aware that international league exists. People are to ignorant or lazy to bother finding out about the game they supposedly follow.

However people on this forum aren't that ignorant and when we see someone spouting this total nonsense of course we are going to call them out.

I agree with the rest of your comments. I'm not sure though that people are ignorant or lazy - I think the problem is that we should break in mid season for International games alongside SOO. This will flow through to ticket sales & tv audience.

What you have now is that people who were interested are less interested as they've switched off for 2010. They're thinking about 2011...

I think we need to minimise the break time after the GRand Final or push for mid season test matches. Scheduling these would be a nightmare though as we have to contend with NRL, ESL and SOO matches.

What we could do is play England vs France in England (mid season). We could then also play Australia vs NZ (mid season). The results would both go towards the end of season tournament.

Any real rugby league fan knows that NSW is going to come good eventually. I hate NSW, but even I know that. They are losing because they are coming up against the greatest side ever assembled. The Australian team should be the QLD team with NSW players only added to cover injuries/AFL defectors. I'm not sure who we've picked for this series but we've no doubt got a few Sharks and Eels nuffies filling up spots as per usual.

NZ are probably at their absolute peak right now, but anyone who knows rugby league (and isn't just basing things on blind optimism about a possible contest) knows that the Australian team will only lose out of complacency, nothing else. If that's the case, you can't expect people to care - let alone put it on par with origin.

I'll clarify once more because I'm very aware of how people lose the skill of comprehension once emotion becomes involved - the only reason I'm pointing all this out to you guys is because there are always some clowns (this thread proved that) that would prefer tests over origin. Origin is the reason our game is as popular as it is, and you want to throw it away to keep a few kiwis happy?
