Shouldn't Wests Tigers be focusing on signing a halfback?

Probably but they have a winger and a hooker lined up for that job and they are focusing on strengthening the back row.

...the last successful big name signing was Prince/Hodgo in 2003!

*edit: my mistake, Whatuira in 2004 was a good signing

Just think about the situations of Prince and Hodgson. Prince was unwanted and injury prone, he was nowhere need the top of his game. Hodgson was rejected by Parramatta and after Tallis used him like a rag doll everyone thought he was past he used by date.

It isn't always about big name signings. Sometimes it is the right player at the right club that makes the difference.

I wouldn't be too upset if I was a Tigers fan.

The guy is an idiot, with terrible hands. His ball security and decision making are appalling.

He obviously has good points to his game though. He is a very damaging runner, and breaks tackles at will at his best.

His signing would have been a big risk, but it may have been worth it..

I guess we will never know.

Just as long as we don't read some article about him wanting to shift codes again next june when he misses out on the All Blacks tri-nations squad - I can live with his decision... again.

it is a big pity he hasn't had the guts to change codes and really test himself - because he's stagnated in Union since bursting onto the scene half a dozen years ago - mascara and all.

would've been a huge coup by the Tigers.

When push comes to shove the tigers can never seem to get a quality signature from outside the club

We got Scott Prince and he won us a competition, that wasn't a bad one.

But apart from him it is definately a worry.

2008 isnt far away and all we have attracted is some kids from the bush, the writting was on the wall at the back end of 2007 that we needed to attract some size right across the field., and the cupboard is still empty. Has Sheens gone sailing for the off season and t aken Ronald Mcdondald with him

Nah, I don't agree.

Union isn't where we should be looking for players.

Two words;

Sam Harris.

Ricky Stuart, Michael O'Connor, Garrick Morgan... i've got a million of them.

Harris was a flop mainly because Des Hasler tried to turn him into a backrower - he would've been a great centre since he played inside centre in Union before he swapped codes and was a really powerful runner. But the whole 'find the next big thing in the backrow' syndrome claimed him and he just didn't have the goods in the pack. A clear indication of how turning him into a forward was a mistake is that the moment he went back to Union he was picked in the centres straight away.

He didn't turn out - it happens. But Nonu would be left outwide and would've been a real asset and crowd pleaser. It is a shame he didn't follow through on all his talk but hey at least the Tigers had a crack.

Piri Weepu is the guy I'd like to see swap - maybe the Tigers throw the money at him now?

Seriously though, how many since Union went pro?

I think Harris was a flop because he wasn't very good.

But that may just be me.

I recall we signed him on the one decent game he had for Manly that led to him playing City v Country Origin.

He did absolutely nothing with the Tigers.

I'm actually a bit offended that we "had a crack". We don't need anyone from Union, we needed to get ahold of current NRL players. We need a halfback and a bopper or two up front. Not a Union winger who has a penchant for wearing make-up.

God I hope not.

Nonu would be an awesome center. Clubs should keep trying to get rugby stars, alot of Rugby Players would be awesome in League.

Should of signed Monners from Manly..

Such a waste to see him leaving the NRL. Him inside Benji would be an ideal halves combo in my opinion.

There are plenty of Rugby stars in the NRL. Blokes like Slater, Stewart, Bowen etc, you know, the Rugby League players that play in the NRL....

We don't need any Union players.

When times get tough for Union over the next 4 years, we'll get to see Union "stars" ....in Premier League.

They have not been saying that since 2000. Not last place anyway
In 2005 people were saying it to start the yr.
2008 is a completely different again...the Tigers have 3 players...Benji/Farrah/Hodgson

01-02-03 we were one of the faves too finish last and so we should of been with the team we had

3 players????? Heignington,Tuiaki,Lawrence,Collis,Payton,Galloway are all good players i admit if we get hit by injury than we are in trouble but so is every other team

i mean look at the players we have lost
Whatuira (did not have a geat year )
Fitzhenry (surley hes not the player too stop us getting the spoon  )
Galea (had a good 2 games )
Jeffrey (didnt play f/g)

now compared too other teams we havent lost that much and our junior side finished top 4 so theres a lot of talent there esp in the halfs

im not predicting top 4 finish but i am thinking we can finish around the same place as last year

These little, tiny, eeny-weeny guys could not play rugby, so it is better that they stick to the NRL

We don't need any Union players.

Oh. Shall I tell the CFMEU, or will you?

Dream on, Antifreeze, dream on. Rugby caters for the top end of the market, and nobody ever went broke catering for the top of the market.

Are you not one of the typical rah rahs who keeps saying Union is a game for all sizes?

Well if it's a game for all sizes, why tf can't players like Slater, Stewart, Bowen and the rest play the game?

Are you guys just talking out your arses?

You say NRL teams have players all the same size, yet, we all know this is wrong, what about SL players, are they too small or too big for union, the ARU and RFU don't think so.

Again know all, if NRL and SL players are all the same, why is it we have players like Bowen, Burrow, Slater up against players like Mason, Hindmarsh, King, Gasnier, Lockyer, Hunt, Smith x3, Cayless x2, Moi Moi, and the rest?

Woods, you need to wake the hell up and leave these forums, you are not wanted.
