He built a foundation, and used his time to improve the players and teach them how to play better. He knew when his work was done, and left to tackle the impossible: deliver Cronulla a premiership.

Tigers have not won a premiership since 1969 and Wests since 1952. Covell was only at the Tigers for 2 seasons , so he had nothing to do with there losses in all the other years.

In 2003, when Luke burst onto the Rugby League Scene with Benji Marshall, they were labelled "Twin Kings" , but other than those two, and a few other workhorses, the side lacked anyone else to go with them.

However with the 2004 signings of Hodgson,Prince,Richards,Payten and Sattler , combined with the Twin Kings and Skandallis, there was hope in Tiger Town. However 2004 didnt rise to expectations when both Benji and Luke for various reasons werent on the field. However in the rare chance that the Twin Kings played together, they strode onto Leichardt to anialate Parramatta 33-6 in front of 20000 fans, as The Luke Covell show ran wild, as he scored a blockbusting hattrick.

The Tigers are a great time without Covell, but with Covell theyd be a superstar team. To say they won cause he left is stupid, as it doesnt explain why they didnt win for the 50 years before that either.

One man cant single handedly win a premiership for a team, or loose it, but he can definetly have an impact. If Covell was there, Sunday would of just been more one sided.

'Twin Kings'

yeah I can see the similarities, covell bamboozling opposition players with his deft footwork and ball skills whilst marshall has the speed of a slug
