tiges also should of lost in round 1 to the sharks, would love to be playing against the tiges this week, sharks would give them a spanking, oh how fortunes can change in 3 rounds.

And to think most commentators on nine were creaming their pants over this years tigers outfit so maybe it's time to LOL@tiges

Tigers 2012 is looking a lot like Raiders 2011. Failing to deliver on (deserved) high expectations.

Teams with rookie forwards due to injury/suspension often struggle in the NRL. Rookie backs can have their confidence shaken in 1 or 2 bad plays, but really don't have to do as much. Most forwards take years to get decent, and the Tigers really need Ellis, Galloway and Farah. Without them they look shaky. Blair was meant to help with this but is not a "tough" forward (he is strong, and can tackle, but when your team is getting belted, and you've taken a few big hits, tough forwards just pick themselves up and go again, and Blair doesn't do this).

But it is very early, and even with busted forwards, a good backline can steal games from nowhere (as could have happened vs Manly). Lawrence and Ayshford will run more freely again, Humble will get better, Marshall with a clear head can be devastating, Ryan has stepped up well recently. They can't be written off.

Having said all that, and this is probably just stupid (it's almost a given if its one of my ideas) but do Tigers fans think it is worth trying Marshall at fullback? Less responsibility for the team, even more freedom to roam and space, lots of kick return chances to get 1 on 1 and beat an opponent with speed or footwork. Then someone else can take responsibility for directing the Tigers.

Of course, that leaves them looking for halves...(try Farah as a half? or is that even stupider?)

I doubt that. Saints were without Cooper and Scott iirc who are nowhere near as important to their side as Ellis and Galloway are to the Tigers considering the inexperience of our forwards. Raiders were without Dugan and Fensom who similarly are no loss when compared to Farah and Galloway when you consider the balance Galloway adds to the experience of the pack and Farah is the captain and lynchpin of the entire side. Add Tuqiri's cap space and our best two rookies and the injuries are just not comparable. Robinson provides more than adequate cover for Dugan too.

So you're saying Tigers have no depth, or that Farah and Galloway are far better players than Cooper, Scott, Dugan and Fensom? I sure hope its the former....

Their pack sucks. Especially when one of its real workers - Galloway is out. Ellis is the only prick willing to roll the sleaves up and do some hard yakka. Groat has no ability to have sustained effort right now (fitness issue?), the rest of the front row is soft and Adam Blair is playing like he's collecting a retirement cheque. Heino goes alright and Fulton does some work but its limited impact stuff

I think they should persue with Miller at halfback, they desperately need a real halfback

Moltzen goes ok as a fullback but he's regressed badly as a half. The injury to Tedesco (sp?) really hurt them

presumably next year their spine will have Tedesco, Marshall, Miller and Farah. Which will be good enough to compete

Matt Cooper, who is saints best defensive and arguably best back and Beau Scott who is an origin play.

Whilst Josh Dugan is the raiders best back, Shaun Fensom is the raiders best forward, both who are arguably the raiders top 2 players (shillington and campese are the only other options)

and your trying to sell those loses dont at least equal that of the tigers?

I posted this earlier. Theres no excuses for the blokes playing not putting in but this is 100% accurate:

The tigers injuries are hitting hard and have had a much greater impact on the the team as opposed to the injuries that the eagles, dragons, raiders had.

However this is entirely the Tigers fault. Sheens has taken a gamble on a few big name players on big money (tuqiri, Lawrence, benji, Galloway, farah, Ellis, Blair) in the hope that they will play the majority of games and perform at 100%. After them we have a bunch of kids and players who will never be anything Other then average first graders, we also have no depth.

At the moment it isn't working

They can't be expected to win the premiership without a decent halfback.
Consistency remains their biggest issue and has been this way for years.
They've had a few close losses in the finals, but the problems of losing those games have not been rectified the following years.

They could still come good finals time but they won't make it to the GF because they don't have anyone that can step up and take them to that level.

We really should of put 50 on them last night. Only our below par execution let us down. We've still got plenty to work on

The tigers are just terrible favourites... and for some reason they always have been.

I dunno what it is, maybe they believe their own hype, or the senior players are just really stupid/big-headed, but whenever people are talking them up massively they seem to think they can run out and win the game without actually doing any hard yards.

Unlike the Storm/Broncos of old/Bennetts Dragons etc (Crusaders/All Blacks)...who have the ability to block all of the hype and media bullshit out and just perform consistently week in week out regardless of obstacles.

In saying that, come August I think they will be round-about the 8 and should be able to make a decent run into the finals if injuries permit. Wait til they drift out to $20-30 with the bookies around origin time and then drop some dough on them.
