Tim Sheens crystal ball

Just an observation, but isn't it funny how everything Tim has said has come true.
Such as:
1. The juniors would put pressure on the veterans - Nick Graham for example with Liam Fulton/Bronson Harrison closer to first grade then him.
2. The club would have a solid season in 2004.
3. The team would play consistently if nothing else - which has pretty much been the case (injuries have hurt this a little)
4. And every player that he let go has not excelled at other clubs. Although Lincoln Withers has been in 1st grade a fair bit with the Dragons.
I just hope his 2005 prediction comes true which was that the club would enjoy some real success.
It's strange how little acknowledgment Tim Sheens has had, when you look back on past seasons not just at WT's but also at Balmain and just how far we really were from being a good football team. I never would have thought he would be the man to save us, I feel guilty about hating him so much for ten years after 1989 and the super league war. Sorry Tim I was very wrong. Your a champion :)

As long as he doesn`t let the Tigers become a retirement village like The Cowboys were when he was coaching,he`ll do good!!!

Yeah i agree.sheens came to the club with some baggage--to my suprise, has done a real good job at turning the place around--before was a place for party boys, now a real hard nose footy club.I think he will be good for another couple years--but than time to move on with a young guy-to really bring the young guns--I think most coaches.have a shelve life of about four years max at one club--but dont get me wrong--i think sheens will be remembered as the bloke who changed the joint around

I've said before that the team of Sheens,Simmons,Lavers and Noyce will lead this club to success. Their attitude and committment to the club is great and the level of the enthusiam they have attracted from all supporters is reflected in the crowds being attracted at Leichhardt and I hope Campbelltown against the Roosters on Friday night in a couple of weeks.I was at Melbourne last week and talked with some of the players after the game. They knew they hadn't played well. As Royce said to me, a few players were playing in dinner suits tonight and we cannot afford that. The young kids we have coming through will be the future and another couple of sigs after 30/06 will only lead to even better things in 2005.As said before, the present coaching/management people we have at the moment have the club going places that 2 years ago know one would have imagined possible.I hope all supporters can continue to be positive and suppport the club because the Weststigers are going places with Tim, Royce & co..
We come from SW NSW and can't attend many games but I would be at every outing if possible. If I was near Sydney and a Weststigers supporter I would be there every week and I encourage every Sydney supporter to get behind this side because they a great unit and need all the support we supporters can give them.

Ihave been saying for long time (and I hope I am right), Tim Sheens is this generations Frank Stanton. Frank in the early 80's developed a team almost identically to Sheens at Balmain. It had a core of seasoned veterans like Knight, Morris, Pringle, Miranda, Wigham with some kids like Jack, Pearce, Hemsley etc and it was Warren Ryan who enjoyed the benefits. Here is hoping that either Sheens get the benefits of what he is doing now (he deserves it) or our next coach is in the Warren Ryan mould.

4. And every player that he let go has not excelled at other clubs. Although Lincoln Withers has been in 1st grade a fair bit with the Dragons.

Scores one try, gets another disallowed through no fault of his own, hits Puletua in possibly the hit of the week. Besides which, he's one of only a couple of players to play every game this season. Much as I rate Tim Sheens as probably the best coach in the comp, Withers had an absolute blinder tonight and I think he got it wrong with that prediction.

well lets just wait and see til linc decides to pass the ball directly to the opposition and give them a few points before you comment on his good games. he had some good games for us oo you know. yet we were still mostly glad to get rid of him!

It's not exactly comparable. Dragons use Withers as a dummy half off the bench. Tigers had no need for Withers in that role - we already have enough hookers.

As a halfback, Withers was just too inconsistent over a generous period of time. We have better options this year.

He's still a decent player, just not what the Tigers need.

What about Trent Clayton? He`s a more than handy winger, who we let go in favour of the likes of Covell.Luke always gives his all,but he`s not half the player Clayton is!

Clayton is a bumbler....he is fast alright but not first garde standard.I know he scored a double last night, but dont forget that Covell scored three for us against the eels....

They both suck IMHO.

Yep , Clayton is a flashy winger , the sort all clubs want but his real reason for not being in frist grade is his defense. If he could defend, he'd be a above average player, instead he's an average player becuase lets face it, all players in todays game need to be able to defend .

I`ve heard people constantly bagging his defence, but i`ve always watched him closely and never seen him miss a one on one tackle? He also saved two certain tries last night!

The bloke is up and down.

In the semis in premier league last year for wests against saints, he scored a brilliant try but also made some stupid mistakes which probably cost us the game.

Too inconsisent for first grade. Was caught out defensively quite a few times last night for the penny panthers.

True about Clayton last night. he was one of Penrith's best, scored 2 tries, saved 2 but still i cant argue our decision to let him move on, but geez is quick!

The other thing about Clayton last season is that Easts were paying half his money.
As Steve Lavers said to me you can't keep them all. When you look at it if there weren't a handfull of Penrith players out he would have played PL and would continue in that grade.I thought he was good last season but if all ouor side was o the paddock there is no way known Trent would be there. Another good decision by current management IMO.

and I've got stipes across my heart
