Timana Tahu out of All Stars clash

A previous judiciary charge rules Timana Tahu out of All Stars clash

November 16, 2009 Parramatta's Timana Tahu has been ruled out of a rugby league comeback in the highly anticipated All Stars clash on the Gold Coast due to a previous judiciary charge.
The dual international was likely to be included in the Indigenous All Stars team named in Brisbane on Friday and selected by an online fan poll.

But a review of judiciary records has confirmed that Tahu has yet to serve a two-match suspension imposed in his final game for the Eels during the 2007 NRL finals series before defecting to rugby union.

The suspension followed an early guilty plea to a grade one contrary conduct head-slam charge.

Tahu will also miss one of Parramatta's two official trials in completing his suspension.

Bit of a shame really, would like to see him get a go. But maybe good if you're an eels fan, make sure he is right for round one.

that suspension should be void. I remember reading that Tahu is half Aboriginal half Maori - which means he could play for an Aboriginal or a Maori side. He was also born in Victoria, he has already played at all the rep levels so all that stuff is decided, but it would make for good representative eligibility discussion ...

How funny.
Even if he doesn't get picked all we have to do is try to name him in a trial and he is still available for Rd 1

That sucks for Tahu...

He just mentioned in the article last week how much playing in the all star game would mean to him considering his background and how much he was looking forward to it!

Come on Paul Osborne, this is now one of the most important domains of your employment. Tell the NRL ooooppppsss News Limited that you will demolish one of their Masonic Lodges, maybe the one in Sydney where this (below) can be found..... if Tahu is not allowed to play for his true heritage....

Surely he has served his suspension by having to play 18 months of Rugby?
A fate worse than death.

that's what I said - but it may have been in the thread about it in the NRL forum

but to be fair he didn't have to ... unfortunately he chased the money to that abomination of an excuse for a sport. I hate rugby

why is the All Stars game considered something to be suspended for? ... I thought it was more about being good for the game etc etc .... make it fun, not business

Strider, in just a few words you have just revealed all the skills required to run the NRL. I will support you in becoming the one and only true leader of the NRL and saviour of the greatest game of all.

It's about time we got rid of all the intellectuals (without consciousness embodied) running (ruining) this game and return this game to the fun park of true blissful entertainment it really is.

Wherever you go strider throngs of RL supporters will honour you in such a way that everyday will be seen as just another glorious Palm Sunday.

Hip hip hooray for Strider:clap::clap::clap:

Totally agree. This is an exhibition game marking the 2nd anniversary of Rudd's apology to the stolen generations. Now the game's officials are stealing a great player away from the indigenous team. FMD.

Seriously, who was the bottom feeding douchebag who dug up that charge and waved it in front of the NRL. Here was a chance to celebrate the return of a league superstar in a high profile game. Don't all the proceeds of this match go back into aboriginal league junior development or something? Way to let politics get in the way of a good cause.

Someone needs to give themselves an uppercut over this shambles.

He pleaded guilty and so the suspension should stand. It is an NRL sanctioned game and so should be included in the coverage of the suspension.

Rules shouldn't be ignored just so everyone can feel good. You do the crime, you do the time.
