I don't know what brownie is going to do, But Sooner or later we are going to lose Good talent in the front row, as it's building up in extreme talent.

Ryles, Bailey, Sims, Poore, Henderson, Long, Tanga-ta-toa, White. Are all very good players ready for First Grade.

Some of these Guys are going to have to be shifted or Tried in the Backrow.

the only players i can see make the transission and still be a success are.
Ryles - Sims - Poore - Long.

Long we know can play there.

I Do NOT want to see the Club let go players like Poore, henderson, White, Sims go to other clubs.

We need a Strong 17 staying together for as many years as possible. They have the Correct mix of players in 2004. There is no Shit around.
no Leickvol, No Cross, No Donnelly, No Tutt, No Ellis Etc..

Timmins whilst I would love to see him stay in the backrow, it wont bother me if he plays in the centres. Backrowers play their today anyways.

The Team that i think may just turn out to be the best we have is.

Hornby
Cooper
Timmins
Gasnier
Blacklock
Barrett
Firman

M Riddell
Thommo
Ryles
Bailey
Withers
Sims
-----------
Long
Kite
Jensen
Young
M Howell

Whilst Riddell is a standout from Dummy half at times, he is not creative enough for the position. He has not set up many tries over the years from there, nor has he put players into gaps. he is a Ball Runner. Not a Dummy half. he is wasted there.

play him at Lock, and DON'T tire him out chasing the Dummy half role.

Withers is lighter and hits as hard, yuet more creative and quicker than the pig.

These are my thoughts.

BTW, M Howell/ J Poore/ N youngquest if they get a chance they may prove hard to hold out.

Hi SIM,

I took some photos of the Cougar All-Stars team at the World Sevens (not many pics as my memory card was getting full), and someone told me you were in that side.

Is that true?

:?:

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I saw your name and thought I'd ask the question.

It's True.. Have you put the photos on the net ?
BTW, I looked like a Dork. My Wife ( hairdresser ) would not Cut my hair off, as we were going to be hanging out with Cougar girls all Week . :? :?
The Shorts i were given were of Warrick Capper proportions.
I suffered a game threatning Back strain before the game LOL.

Not a good start, but I got out there and had some fun.

In saying that we havetalent in the front row, I think we have an eqaul amount of talent in the back row. With Thompson, Kite, Perenara, Jensen, Leyshon, Katu, Norrie, Payne, Powell and Timmins. Moving props to the back row will only see some of this talent go to other clubs. It's a good position to be in however I see it a s inevitable that some of our young promising forwards will end up playing else where. I only hope they go to a club that is struggling and not end up at the Roosters, Dogs, etc.

I agree with you simon, our backrow depth is the best it's ever been. But I think they should prioritize who we keep.

Bailey
Ryles
Thommo
Sims
Poore
Riddell
Timmins
Etc... Etc...

I dont mind the club letting go a couple of them. But none of the above.

All I have to say is that the depth at Saints is probably as good as we had in 1999.

Actually I recall Luke Bailey spent most of last year in the back row for Saints. The number 11 jumper belonged to him most weeks. Obviously he can also make the transition.

COOPER IS NOT A WINGER! I can not stand when you spastics want to play Cooper on the flank. He is a CENTRE! He is wasted at Winger and he hates it there. He is a great player and is better than Timmins in my opinion.

The best team we have got.

1.Hornby
2.Blacklock
3.Gasnier
4.Cooper
5.Youngquest
6.Barrett
7.Firman
8.Bailey
9.Riddell
10.Ryles
11.Kite
12.Thomopson
13.Timmins

14.Long
15.Withers
16.Jensen
17.Sims

And I also think that Pig is a great hooker. So what is he isnt a ball player we have Firmo to do that and Riddell is needed for big explosive runs up field into tiring defence. Close to the line he is unstoppable and he is not watsed at Dummy half. Watch for Kite to shine this year.

I kind of stopped making up team lists some time ago - suspensions and too many injuries kept stuffing up my best laid plans.

But while thats a good team DF, I'd put Creagh in instead of Youngquest.

Maybe have him come into dummy half when attacking in the opposition quarter?? His strike rate from there is excellent & his strength & low centre of gravity are a real asset.

The strongest team I think we can have is:

Simmonds
Niaqama/Creagh/Youngquest/Olzard
Gasnier
Cooper
Blacklock
Barrett
Firman
Bailey
Withers
Ryles
Sims
Thompson
Riddell

Timmins
Poore
Norrie
Jensen

Long will be only good for a season or so and lets face it, Timmo will be very lucky to go 3 more seasons. Ryles wont ever be the same because of his shoulder.

Norrie
Poore
Sims
Jensen are our brightest prospects in the fowards at the moment all IMO ofcourse.
