I dont recall crowe pumping mega bucks into souths
Maybe not "mega" bucks, depending on your definition of mega, but for several years in a row when we were in desperate need of cash he was there. Eventually he got tired of putting money in with no say, that's why he decided to buy the club. And the club has had excellent off-field success ever since.

I can see the Knights situation going the same way.

They haven't had excellent results on the field at all.

OH you said Off field. Still its results on field that count and the club has made one final series haven't they where they went straight out. How many clubs have been worse over that period. Even the Raiders have won a finals match

If he loves the club he should put his hand up for ceo and sponsor the team instead of trying to own it.

Like many successful men in the world it is his ego that wants to add the club to his name and portfolio, but it is also his ego that will ensure it won't fail.

If he got involved and was ceo he would

he's the chair of a multi million $ company, you think he has time to be a NRL club CEO as well? :)

ps the board have overiding decison making, not the CEO.

most people won't spend $30 on their club membership unless they get a free cap, and you want him to spend tens of millions with no say, you are a very funny man:D

The board have voted in favour of the Tinkler deal over another offer. Discussions to continue with the view of putting the offer to the members in March.

Great signs for the club and a smart decision by the board.

Great decision strengthens another team. Now for the media shy Tinkler to get out there & convince some oldies to accept

Now let's hope they get the 75% they need.
No, 100 million compared to 3 million.

That is exactly only 3% of Tinklers offer. How very 50uffs.
Johnsy, your spewing the same BS that Muzby is, that alone should tell you that you're very wrong. For the millionth f**ken time, Tinkler won't be spending anything near 100 mill, Crowe has spent much more than 3 mill.

Both have been/will be great for their clubs and the NRL.

Soffss, you have to love them, hated super league, then sold out to Russ.

Great move, but makes the whole march in the street about the "people against the money" nothing more than a joke.

Now they love it, Souffs fans, the highest order hypocrites ever. Not all some are not keen on Rusty.

Yes I am a sharks fan, reckon you did well to sell out to Rusty, but at least I know it is business, souffssss fans did not until rusty bought them.

It truly makes me laugh hard them.

Board backs Tinkler deal

19 Jan, 2011 09:27 PM
THE Newcastle Knights board took a huge step towards privatisation last night when it approved in principle Nathan Tinkler's $100million offer to buy the club.Chairman Rob Tew emerged from last night's board meeting to announce that members would vote in March on Tinkler's buyout plan.
The proposal needs the support of at least 75% of members who choose to vote.
Tinkler's offer guarantees the club at least $10million a year in sponsorship revenue for the next 10 years and wipes out its estimated $4million debt.
Full report in tomorrow's Newcastle Herald.
