Couldn't agree more about Sivo.

I have no idea what the issues are that demand his selection- but clearly there is something because Blind Freddy can see he hasn't been a first grade level contributor (if I just say first grader the pedants will crucify me) for a very long time and yet he keeps getting selected and we don't chase any competent replacements.

who would you pick to replace him ?

Simmonson on the wing & Talagi or Harper in the centres.

Sivo needs to be dropped and a bold statement made imo by the coach.

Sivo is a big enough name to drop.

What about how he turns his body sideways running the ball up like he is scared to get to hurt which in turns is getting dominated in the tackle.

I think Simmonson plays better in the centres and I wouldn't be picking Harper on the wing again. Talagi's defense in the centres woul be a concern plus I guess that means either Sanders or Asi in the halves, again defense is the big issue for mine.

Not sure what the answer is as we just don't have the cattle.

Guess time:

1. Gutherson - but will play in the halves on the day
2. Sivo - BA doesn't have the guts to drop him
3. Penisini
4. Simonsson
5. Russell
6. Asi - but will play fullback
7. Brown - but will play his customary role
8. Campbell-Gillard
9. Lussick - but will start from the bench
10. Paulo - but will start from the bench
11. Lane
12. Matterson
13. Hopgood
14. Hands - but will start the game
15. Ofahengaue - but will start the game
16. Greig
17. Tuilagi
18. Moretti
19. Talagi
20. Harper
21. Ogden
22. Makatoa
BA has shown in the past that he doesn't drop a player for poor form or unable to handle the position. He picks and sticks usually as if to say 'I'm right and will stick until it works out, regardless of the results.'.

Its obvious that Blaize might be an ok attacking player but his defence is poor and needs improving before coming into NRL. What do they teach our young kids in the elite pathways? They always seem to have glaring flaws when promoted into NRL whereas other teams young players do not?

Not unlike Paulo. Sideways does not allow leg drive. Paulo started the year better but hes reverted to hitting the line sideways and therefore an easy tackle. Trade him out and make Hopgood V Captain.

Its such a conumdrum.

Blaze is too young and so is Sanders but we have to do something. Asi was signed specifically for this situation but he cant tackle and our defense in Canberra was shit.

I think Sanders would do better in the NRL team than he does in this crappy Cup team but we have to pick him to find out.

Its going to be hard to turn this ship around in one week.
I dont watch the NSW Cup but is Sanders a better defender than Asi?

I was ok with Blaize at 6 but I think there are instructions not to give him the ball unless Dyl is tied up or tackled. I thought it was worth a try.

I think we should now try and get our year back in order and have Asi in the team

Asi would be fine at 7 just kick and tackle...

Supercoach thinks Brown is a centre aswell

Which leads me back to me biggest point - we just have not structured our squad effectively.

It's obvious we are missing a 7 but our problems are way deeper than a few positional changes.

I don't think it will matter what 17 we pick this weekend unless there is a massive attitude shift. We have had some terrible performances over the last few years but that 'effort' on the weekend (if you can call it that) was beyond embarrassing. There was no energy, no plan, no fight, pathetic performance.

They need to pull something out of their asses this week otherwise the Cows will put 50 on us.

I am a massive fan of Dylan Brown - so much so that I believe if he was at Melbourne under Bellamy he would be in the top three players in the world and probably NZ captain.

But given the nature of his development and his career path thus far, I just don't think he has the mindset to be a 7.

Also, Blaize is clearly unready to play 6 in first grade.

I think we have to pick Sanders or Asi - but I would like to see Talagi in the centres and Simmonsson in place of Sivo on the wing.

I understand it won't happen, mainly because there are clearly issues that dictate Sivo must be selected, but nonetheless I would love to see it.
Firstly, I think Dylan is a very good player -
but not that good. Secondly, if Blaize is unreadable to play 6, I think he's even more unready to play centre. Thirdly, Simmondson is SO much better at centre than wing, I think it would be ridiculous to
move him there. Fourthly, it appears that Sivo was carrying an injury last week - and hopefully will be better this week. Fifthly (?) That rumour about Sivo having to be selected sounds very far-fetched to me.
My solution would be to drop Talagi (persisting with him in first grade under the current adverse conditions won't do much for his confidence/development); put Asi at halfback, and Brown back to five-eight. But, as you said, I'm not confident that will happen.

I'd take it a step further and say we have not structured our football staff effectively. Once we have the right people in place we can then use then to structure our roster effectively.

Bit of work to do to make that happen.

Maybe we should chase Scott Fulton? 😁

different players

1 is a no 7 and the other is a utility. Sanders wasn't good initially but will improve the more he plays.

Asi is probabaly as good as he's going to get and he's had some half decent games defensively and some shit games.

all valid points - cant argue strongly with any of them, because at Parramatta at the moment there seems to be no readily identifiable solution

Bloody depressing.

I will just note that I am not aware of any rumour about Sivo - I just assumed there was some reason he was compelled to be in first grade by the fact he appears unable to be dropped.

Prepare for the trolling to commence in 5... 4... 🤣

But agree, no matter the excuses that are/will be trotted out by some, our top 30 squad does not have the cattle and isn't structured for immediate or lasting success - beyond scraping into the bottom of the 8 at best over the past decade, and going out most years in straight sets.
