ok before everyone starts baggin bs and how we should get rid of him how about some constructive criticim instead.(remember everybody was wingin cause thorman was not getting selected but apart from the first 20 minutes thorman, dykes and morris were on the feild for the game and we still get flogged)

ist/ in the long term if we were to replace Brian smith, who do we replace him with?

2nd/ In the short tearm how do we solve the eels problems?

"2nd/ In the short tearm how do we solve the eels problems"

firstly we should have a Thorman/Muspratt or Witt/Thorman half combination

and secondly Vella, Wagon, Petersen & Dykes should get demoted to the premier league bench

ist/ keep bs on as adviser kind of like phil gould, replace with Jt or one of the lower grade coaches such as Jersy, harold matthews at least they know how to win.

2nd/ wags to the centres, burt to full back he plays hes best footy there (remember the first 4 rounds when he carved the teams up with his line breaks), dykes half back, either witt or thorman at 5/8 and muspratt on the bench, and morris as hooker, hopkins lock.

no swapping or changing leave them there so they can develope combinations and we should win a few games.

Who really knows?

I am really beginning to doubt ANYONE knows.

I mean 3 home game losses in a row? NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I'll stick it to the very end, but am not impressed ...

Wagons defence cost us at least 1 try today. He made 30+ tackles, but who cares when you are a 5/8 that cannot attack????

Morris, Thorman andDykes today played like they didn't know who was playmker. Utterly no combinations exist, not have the allowed to develop. If Smith's story re Witt is true, then Thorman and Dykes should be halves, that's it. End of story. Give 'em time to gel, and ENCOURAGE them, rather than just throw 'em in and say a few prayers.

Vella played very well today. No wa I'd drop him.

Smith? Well........ :?

It's not up to us to solve the problems. It's up to the coach to do that, and if he cannot then he is not the man for the job. Who do we replace him with, i'm not sure, i'm don't know much about coaching, but I know enough to say Smith is getting stale and surely there is another option.

the more I watch parra play, the more i keep scratching my head as to what the problem is..... I think our defence is the biggest problem...... esp our goaline defence.... i mean we can soore points (although not lately it seems) so maybe if the defence goes well the attack will follow? i dont know im not a coach.... but to anyone that watches parra play, be it sterling, gould me or you, its obvious that parra look very ordinary most of the time.....

although i do have to say it was encouraging how the forwards tried to offload tha ball more today instead of just hitting up and taking/trying to break the tackle.

No one is taking controll of the team thats our problem, we look like an unorganised bunch of footy players who have no idea whats going on and if in doubt just run sideways and put in a shotty kick!

our game plan's just implode the moment we kick off!

Sometimes the team gets sick of the same old voice telling them what to do. If Smith was fair dinkum he would assess his coaching methods and take some leave for a month and see how JT goes in a caretaker role. Surely we could not get any worse. After that month we would see if we sign JT for the long term or lookout for other coaches for next year as I do not see Smith surviving until the end of 2006. People power will make for the removal of Smith. People have removed presidents let alone coaches with old methods.

I think we shud do a Roosters approach as much as i hate to be anything like them, but have Smith as boss of coaching at the club like gould is at easts n let jt or someone take over the reigns of the top team team

smith would have to go voluntarily - the club wont be willing to pay him out unless things get really bad

Thats why they keep him as advisor but dont listen to him then they wont have to pay him out and have someone else coach the team

I like that idea. He still has something to offer the game. He isn't in touch with the current situation and thats why he must go.

The biggest problem with bringing in JT is that his methods are going to be very similar to smith's. The system at the club is that all grades use the same methods. You only have to look at how the warriors, raiders and eels are going and the fate of Peter Sharp to realise that these methods are not good enough to win FG premierships. We need to go outside the club but that is easier said than done.

Smith has not grown as a man and coach -this has meant Parra have not improved for three years now. This is surely a signal to change to a coach who can grow our team.

He has tried but i cannot comprehend his pet projects every year-this year being bigger is better-he is too technical and scientific even for his own good it seems.

Anyway Parra is suffering because they are too big and slow with a slow, unskilled five eight wthin an average roster of new players who have failed in the past and yet players like Pj Marsh and I Hindy and Heckenberg can be let go so easily.

Smith has failed us for 3 years now and it looks grim-we have lost to Cronulla, Cowboys and Melbourne who are not even top four sides.

Like always Smith will put a scientific spin on issues ignoring these facts and by not allowing players feel like winners and grow he will never be a liked coach-respected maybe-but never a winning likeable coach.

He surely can see that the trend is for fitter and stronger players eg.Roosters and not bigger-his thinking basis is wrong to begin with.

Souths, bag them if you like, are already agitating to replace Langmack after, what, 14 months in the job, and after a great start to the year. Chris Anderson and Ian Millward have already ben linked to the place.

Souths, since Piggins left, are slowly rebuilding the club. Anderson has already spoken favorably about Souths. Chances are they will agree to terms, and the Bunnies will, within about 5 years, be one of the stronger sides, cause of action they are taking now.

Parra will still be be a cellar dweller because of the glaring inactivity from the board.
