I think the loss of peachy and stevens may actually be good for the club off the field. They are two of the few left over from the good old days. Pierce and Rogers should follow very closely.

If they get albert.

Otherwise we will have

1. Simmons
2. Whoever is next best
3. Vagana
4. Pommeroy
5. Covell

Doesn't exactly look like a world beating backline.

" Cronulla powerbrokers Barry Pierce & Steve Rogers will carpet departing fullback David Peachey today over the veteran fullback's heavy outburst at the club"

Since when have these 2 employees been powerbrokers...sorry boys you're no Kerry Packer or Rupert Murdock!!!
Typical Sharks mentality, not allowed to say your mind, have to hold back the truth just in case someone is offended.
Sure Peach is nearing the end of his career, but for sh*ts sake he has been one of the clubs best performers in 2005 and he is entitled to speak from the heart.
Whats the club is scared of, that it won't be portayed as " one happy little family!!!"
He puts bums on seats, the club owes it to their fans, we keep management of the football club in a job!
There's alot of other players who have been there for years and have done nothing near what Peach has and they have a contract for 2006.
All we want is a football team that is picked on form, not favouritism, that we can be proud of supporting through every game....win or lose.

the story explains how peachey's gonna cop a grilling about what he said to the media. wasnt it at the begining that peachey was going to widnes whether cronulla wanted him or not? and now that they will be relegated, it is expected for cronulla to drop everything and accomodate to his needs... if cronulla have a better option, wouldnt it be better for cronulla to go for that option?

rogers would have qualifications wouldnt he gunnamatta?

a test captain, one of the best ever footballers to lace on a boot!

the peachey issue is so clouded by everyones admiration for his ability, the FACT is he is nowhere near the player he was.

then he bleats to all and sundry , airs his dirty washing in the public arena and de stabilises the club 6 weeks out from the semis.

sure he is entitled to be disappointed at not getting what he wants, but if you employ a coach and football manager you must let them run the business.
he didnt have to be einstein to work out last season when he was only offered a one year contract he was on the way out.

as stuart raper said on a 2ue interview, the decision was made in the long term benefit of the club moving forward.
he also stated that david might well look at the approach adopted by the brisbane broncos, its better to let a player go one year early than one year late.

unfortunately blind loyalty by many fans clouds their jugement.

pity cronulla havent offloaded more in the same boat as peachey.

well said.

who esle do you think should leave?

you wonder why rogers, raper and pierce have the sh*ts.

no wondering about it. i can understand their point of view but just happen to totally disagree with them in principle and action. i also happen to think that a large part of their anger is a result of bruised egos responding to a 'mere' player daring to say anything which may expose their incompetence and nepotism.

btw - rogers is well aware of peacheys diminisihing affect on the side and if that is in any way relevant, how would you then explain the retention of simmons ? or in fact any other player that you care to believe has a negative impact on the sharks ?

i am one of steve rogers' biggest fans as a footballer, but if you actually had any idea what you were talking about you'd be aware that his subsequent career in several businesses since retiring from football has been, to put it kindly, a mixed bag backed up with minimal formal training or qualification.

Well said SOL.
