Todd Carney sacked

Im not one of those LU poster, who tries to downplay everything. You know the type who say "This isn't news" or "Storm in a teacup" if a player brings a gun to training and shoots disabled kid, and his mom who had cancer.

In this case however, I honestly don't think this is that big a deal.

For him to be sacked over this seems a massive overreaction.

Need to look at the context, mate. The guy has had a billion chances. Looking at this case in isolation yields a very different perspective to examining his scope of indiscretions.

I saw a very interesting point raised on FB. Since he's been sacked, surely he could sue his friend for loss of income? Especially given using a camera in a public toilet is illegal?

The guy IS a dickhead, and he deserves whats coming to him, but shit I would see him being sacked for something more serious.

Yep he totally deserves his 800th chance. He'll learn, just give him time

The difference is, it is 2014. Like it or not, people like Carney have dragged the game in to the mud over the past decade.

Enough is enough.

The funny thing is, Cronulla will sack him only for another club to pick him up... the irony.....

The NRL cannot simply continue tolerating players who continually bring the game into disrepute, that's what this is about. It seems like an overreaction sacking him, when you view what he did for what it is, but it is so much more than that. Sacking him is perfectly warranted

My wife brought up a pretty good point when she saw the photo, she said to me:

"Check out his technique, he's perfected this before putting it on show for his mates... this is not his first time at the bubbler"

How many times do you think Toddy pissed all over himself before he got it to a point where he knew what he was doing?

I have never emailed the club before, but I have now, I advised them I am done, I will not spend another dollar on this club nor watch another game, been going since 1979, hundreds of games thousands of dollars invested in the club, no more the way we crucify players is a joke, no wonder we haven't won anything.
You signed up a player with a long list of indiscretions that had already been sacked from two other clubs for alcohol and behavioural issues.

The Sharks knew what they were getting into when they signed him, he has had his chance and now he is gone.

The club did the right thing.

We don't need dickheads like Todd Carney continuously bringing the game into disrepute.

Why is your wife an expert on the technique required to piss in one's own mouth?

Its no over reaction. He and the club would have been a complete laughing stock if he'd continued playing. He left them with no choice. Even if he had no previous offences they still would have had to do it. The image is just too damaging.

Where did i say she was an expect in that? My guess is she was just a making an observation about the fact he's clearly done this before. And she's probably right, you dont call mates into the dunnies to show off your party trick unless you've practised it at home a bit

That being said, she IS an expert in childhood behavioral issues and intellectual development, so she has got a solid background with dealing with guys like Toddles

So again, how many times do you practise pissing in your mouth at home, before you break it out in public?

Yep

How can he take about $600k a year & cost the club similar amounts in sponsorship by his antics.

He has been an incident waiting to happen - he's been spotted out on the piss many a time lately.

The club has decided it's not worth paying that much for someone unprofessional & ultimately, injury prone.

Another day in the life of a sharks supporter!
