Does this forum get charged per topic?

Agreed, anything new that happens just gets stuffed around with the old topics and makes it difficult to discuss anything, I don't understand why new topics cant just be created, would be much easier and reduce all the BS in these threads.

Lets give him a chance and see what he can do, but I'm not very optimistic about any new teams coming into the comp any time soon and I'm not sure he's international Rugby League friendly either. I hope he proves me wrong on both counts.

Thank you. I had a reason for starting another thread instead of just continuing with this thread. The original is about Dave Smith quitting and the search for a new one. The new thread I created was to be about Greenberg as CEO.

So they appointed a 'rugby league' person once again insularity and inwards thinking keeping the NRL stand still. I don't blame 'outsiders' for shunning the CEO job considering how the media ravage David Smith at the smallest of errors.

Being a 'rugby league' person doesn't equate to competent administration, so the NRL and the clubs get there wish now they can deal with it. I rather have a outsider who has a unbiased eye towards rugby league than one who had prior connections.

So would I. I just can't get past that he is apparently the best person for the job after a 6 month world wide search. I don't buy it. Nothing against Greenberg, but surely there is someone better out there?!

We don't need someone who knows things about Rugby League. We need someone that knows how to grow revenue and negotiate with governments and other corporates. There is no way that Greenberg is the most qualified there.

Agreed. There are a lot of topics that you could discuss in this appointment and they shouldn't be wrapped up in one thread.

Well he's spouted all the usual bullshit about growing the game that will never materialise so he's fitting into the job before he's even started.

fair?

News Limited didn't think he should have become head of football and unleashed a smear campaign against him

Gotta be nice when they do a world wide search approach 3 afl ceos

Everyone says no then u get the gig

Saying that it would be nice to see Todd stay for 10 years or so

He's not ridiculously wealthy like Dave Smith ... So he may hang around

Understands RL but does he have enough big ideas to make a difference

He's admitted he is no visionary, I guess that was one box he didn't nail? I think it is very brave of Grant to appoint a CEO without a vision for the future lol.

At least he is against expansion which would explain el dribblers love for him

Greenberg wasn't immediately interested in increasing the number of competing clubs from 16 and stressed the NRL was more concerned in the short to medium term with sustaining some of the current ones who are struggling.

Wests Tigers, St George Illawarra, Gold Coast and Newcastle are all receiving NRL support.

"Expansion is not something we're talking about," Greenberg said.

"We're very focused on our 16 clubs and making sure they are strong and secure - that's our immediate focus.

"We're about to provide a new funding distribution model for our clubs which will see them better equipped to handle the challenges than they've ever been before, so it's now up to the clubs to realise their opportunities.

"I wouldn't describe myself as a visionary, nor do I think I'm a guy with all the ideas," Greenberg said.
