Man he has to go. Might do a lot of defensive work but Jesus Christ has he ever bent the line in his whole career? The game has passed him by, not aggressive enough and nowhere near up to speed with the modern game.

It’s a thanks but no thanks for a contract extension for me. If we re-sign him then we ain’t fair dinkum.

Being better than Woods is no great yardstick

I've watched a million games of RL and ld say he's the laziest forward lve seen. Lazy is the word. And soft. There's another one.

Tolmans body shape is all wrong for 2021 NRL.

You can't begrudge his effort and commitment but unfortunately the game has just passed him by , as for Woods , well what can i say , effort and commitment completely lacking and then you can throw in a complete lack of leadership , why is this guy even captain every week , WTF is Hannay thinking or not thinking , it's lazy coaching , but then we seem to go out every week with no game plan or no apparent attempt to follow one . It concerns me that Hannay is staying on next year as AC , but it worries me that his soft under belly will be carried over to next season , hopefully he is the first one that Fitz has a conversation with and tells him that whatever he thought he knew , forget it , do what i say , nothing more nothing less .

Yep. There's so much deadwood to be cut free for '22 - and not just players. Attitude. Approach. Prep.
How things are done from top to bottom.

Hannah is front and centre with all that. He makes bomber look like Alec Ferguson.

If we didn’t have both Finucane and McInnes coming I’d say keep Tolman for leadership and example on professionalism for the younguns. We now don’t need him and he’ll just be holding back a spot for someone to come through. It’s a thanks but no thanks for me.

If Tolman is that good around the boys and we have space, maybe minimum contract…but must not play firsts.

I'm sure the attitude is gone be made to change , Fitz a'int coming here to F@#K around , Hannay is a product of the last 2 years at the Cowboys and then under JM . I don't want to start an argument with anybody but JM just struck me as too nice with a soft under belly , Hannay is a product of his environment , some of decision making has been weak on the whole .
But the future is bright and never expected anything this year , the rest of Fitz player plans are going to be very interesting to follow over the next few months , he will have a plan . One thing for sure we can look forward to much better defence next year .

Maybe Hannay feels sorry for Tolman and Woods gives them plenty of game time, to see if they can land a contract elsewhere

Well if he is it would be bloody disgraceful but i would be most surprised if that was the case , think it's more a case that he doesn't think he has any other options , which if he was any sort of coach he would be able to find solutions to .

I would move Talakai into prop for a game to see what he can do rest Tolman or Woods or both.
Shift Ramien to backrow as can't set up a winger to save his life.
We have those young centres JL and JT let's see them have a go, might be able to solve more then one problem

And there you go , some lateral thinking , something Mr H appears to lack .
The game is changing , players have to be a lot more inter changeable , some minutes here , some minutes there . And if a player can't be flexible then he is going to be left behind . Hence this thread .

Tolman was singed as a bench prop to come on and tighten up defence while we have our big men come on and smash out the meters. Problem is our big men are shit.
Next year we have Finucane and McInnes so no need for him even on base salary.

I still think Tolman has his place on a small contract. The team is all about balance and while we have noted defenders like Finucane and McInnis we also have big units not so noted for their defence, people like BHU, Hunt, Talakai and Fifita.

At full strength hopefully he doesn't make the top 17 but he definitely has a place in my top 25.

If we need some squad fillers on minimum contract. I’d give him one. Does a job in defence. He shouldn’t be getting the ball on our goal line one off the ruck when the defence is compressing and rushing up. This is more of a sign of bad coaching though. A few times last night we went nowhere coming off our line because we didn’t want to try and shift it against a compressed defence. It was all too easy for manly.

also, he looks worse at the moment because he is on at the same time as woods. What is hannay thinking persisting with starting both of them? One of them needs to come off the bench. Woods preferably.

Woods gone. Fifita fekked. Tolman is the next most senior prop.

Depending on how the dominos fall he is, at this time, a must keep because there is no substitute for experience.

There's been a few missed dominos on the prop front and the market is pretty bare.

Don't agree. He's putting blocks in place. Talakai, Wilton, Nikora have all played centre. Only 2 backrowers, Nikora and Wilton haven't been used as middles. Trindall plays 6, 7 and edge forward. Tracey fullback, 5/8, half, wing, centre.

There's been a lot of outside the box thinking actually. Someone who didn't think laterally would never had put Talakai in the centres when he could have put Tracey there and used Metcalf at 6. It's all setting up for Fitz and building that "next man up" culture.
