Okay, he's a 5/8th, but if Arana Tomato can stay off the sauce (see what i did there) I think he's NZ quality.

After watching what he did for the Maoris against the aborigines before the WC last year, I predicted he'd play next to Benji in the 4 nations this year after playing a very loose role for a structured Melbourne side who'd go deep into the semis and have had some absolute niff nuffs in rep teams lately. Obviously he didn't get to play any footy so that went out the window pretty fast, but the point remains.

This blokes' footwork is through the window. If Sheens can get him working with Benji we'll have a very very good partnership. He's not a halfback in the classic mould which, as most of you know, I'm in love with as it brings consistent footy. But as we've seen, it takes flair, form and luck to win this comp and he and Benji have it, especially if Farah can help control.

It'll either go really wrong, or really right - just as it did when we had another flair/loose player in Prince controlling the team. But at least with Taumata we have a first class player. Something which only the most deluded here would dare to suggest Moltzen is at the moment.

I doubt Sheens will chuck them in and get them playing together, but he managed it with Prince and stuck with it so let's see what happens. If he does, I'll believe we can win the comp (counting on signing a prop and fullback here) and that Taumata and Benji will be the halves in the 2011 Pac Cup.

I may be wrong, but the only evidence we have so far is that Moltzen simply isn't up to the task - aka goes missing - when the going gets tough. It's not hard to score a few trys when your team goes forward. Putting someone else over when you're team really needs it is what wins Premierships.

In Regards to Moltzen, i think this year he was our best available player for number 7 and i think if he stayed there he may end up a decent halfback. If you say Taumata would be a better option then ill take your word for it and id be happy to play him 7 but knowing Sheens he will f**k up some other position just to keep Motzen in the side. Hmmmm where will he fit in if Lotte is fullback ? Hope shines just picks the best in each position next year and and drops the favourites.

If we had Ben Reynolds kicking long and directing play we'd have made the finals all these last years we've missed out with niff nuffs filling the 7 jersey. It's all we need to be an 8-4 side. To win a prem we'd be relying on Benj and Robbie pulling something out of their arse. Argue with that?

my last memory of ben reynolds was us getting belted by manly, him breaking his leg with about 20 to go, then BEN GALEA shifting to half and us scoring 4 unanswered tries to win.

westie - Reynolds was garbage. I can understand your point about a controlling halfback, but there is a difference between a good controlling halfback and an average one.

The best thing that happened in 04 was that Manly game at Leichhardt. Reynolds broke his leg, Prince moved to half and we won the game.

If he was so good, where is he now?

I think if Lote joins on.

1. Lote
6. Benji
7. Moltz
14. Taumata

Taumata would make a great impact player.
I cannot understand why you would put a half on the bench. They either start or they don't play.

We should have 3 specialist forwards and a utility player (can cover centre or back row/lock) type player on the bench, at all times.

lol Ben Reynolds.

As far as world class halfbacks go, he's up there with Joe Williams.

Nothing like putting our faith in a four time offender to turn things around off the field...

I hope Shines has a contigency plan... just on the off chance things dont work out....

I bet the 3 wise men have loaded up their vodafone prepaid and have rung Don Feltis to enquire about how Benji Reynolds has been going in the Penriff D grade comp. It's amazing that clubs in the NRL, ESL, Jim Beam Cup and Qld Cup have missed the talents of Benji - a half who, according to westie would have been the difference between us making the semis and not.

I agree with you westy, reynolds was a goal kicking and a had a great kicking game. In attack he could of just given it to Benji and Robbie or given hard balls to Ellis, Tui or Lawry. Reynolds would have been our saviour this year. Atleast, he's a halfback.

He wouldnt be a saviour. He'd be a f**king halfback. Strange concept to us, but that's why we always lose isn't it. Read Gould's latest, explains it to dummies, including Henjak, in simple terms.
