He was being interviewed on Mai FM the other day about the Auckland 9's. In the introduction they said he was of Samoan, Tongan & "African-American" descent. Maybe he should have put his hand up for the States LOL.
He is eligible for Australia, NZ, Tonga, Samoa (through American Samoa grandparent?), hence USA as well.

^True. They definitely said "african-american" in the introduction. I just assumed Mason told the radio hosts that cos he thinks it makes him cooler.

The Tongan team have officially taken over the little South Auckland suburb of Otahuhu. They had a training run at the Otahuhu Rugby League grounds today and it was packed with die hard Mate Ma'a Tonga fans. Funny driving up there today to watch, and cars slowing down and giving way to a group of guys in red crossing the road, turns out it was team walking from their hotel to the grounds which is about a 5 min walk. They also shut down the main road running through Otahuhu yesterday in an unofficial official street parade.lol.

I've always had a soft spot for Tonga - they're a good team to watch. In 2008 they were my outside team to barrack for. They should be very exciting to watch.

I'd love to see:

1. Glen Fisi?iahi
2. Daniel Tupou
3. Mahe Fonua
4. Konrad Hurrell
5. Jorge Taufua
6. Samisoni Langi
7. Daniel Foster
8. Fuifui Moimoi
9. Siliva Havili
10. Brent Kite (C)
11. Sika Manu
12. Mickey Paea
13. Jason Taumololo

14. Nafe Seluini
15. Willie Manu
16. Ukuma Ta'ai
17. Ben Murdoch-Masila
18. Siuatonga Likiliki

I think that of the outside teams, they'd be the most exciting to watch - Fiji a close second. It's a shame PNG will be without Segeyaro as they'd be up there too.

Looking forward to watching Foster (as a Penrith fan)

Imagine if players like Mateo, Jennings, Fifita, T REX, Mason, Fa'aoso and Vatuvei were to join the boys. Good to dream though.

1. Daniel Tupou
2. Manu Vatuvei
3. Michael Jennings
4. Konrad Hurrell
5. Jorge Taufua
6. Feliti Mateo
7. Daniel Foster
8. Brent Kite
9. Siliva Havili
10. Fuifui Moimoi
11. Sika Manu
12. Tony Williams
13. Nafe Seluini
14. Mickey Paea
15. Andrew Fifita
16. Richie Fa'aoso
17. Willie Mason

I wonder if having the outside squads having a priority would have the support of the players, if even for a one year trial.

There's a real lack of spine options though, isn't there? Foster is young, as are Havili and Seluini and you really need two hookers if both are that age in the 17. But it would be interesting to see how all the sides would look if someone could come up with a selection system.
