I suspect this untimely stuff up is by design and not chance. I'm certain their are individuals working within rugby-league their to sabotage any genuine growth!

x-Wigan and Widnes coach Frank Endacott will take charge of Tonga’s end-of-season Test matches against Great Britain and Australia.

The former New Zealand boss has accepted an approach to replace Kristian Woolf as part of the new coaching staff that will see Manu Vatuvei, Lesley Vainikolo and Duanne Mann become assistant coaches.

Tongan National Rugby League chairman George Koloamatangi says replacing Woolf with Endacott was done purely because it was “time for a change”.

Endacott told NRL.com: “It’s always a challenge to take on the top teams, and both Australia and Great Britain have been in the top echelon for years.

“The Mate Ma’a Tonga players are world class and we see how good they are week in and week out in both the NRL and Super League. To have a chance to work with those players will be outstanding.”

Former Gold Coast Titans boss Garth Brennan will coach Tonga at the World Cup 9s on October 18-19 at Bankwest Stadium.

In all fairness since the 2017 world cup tonga have faced the two best nations in the world and smashed Samoa so I really don't think the team was in "crisis" and needed change.

My guess is that Woolf had a falling out with the TNRL pure and simple

I've abandoned my trip plan to go and watch the game, I can see it being a clusterf** and Im not going to pay $3k in case it is.

Perhaps as a backstop the Lions could play the Kangaroos? I'm sure this would be too difficult to arrange for the Australian rugbyleague genius administrators! Even at short notice this game would fill Bankwest stadium or the stadium at Newcastle? That's a long bow but I've seen more diabolical scenarios.
In addition if Tonga cannot play then both England and Australia are missing a game? Maybe it could happen? Seen more unlikely things happen. Just throwing it out there?

Backstop. LOL.

Yes. It's amazing such a match is labeled a backstop. No disrespect intended. (think the administrators showed the disrespect a while ago)
I know it's a long bow. However if the rugby league can so easily look to have an international game at risk? So can it equally arrange a change in schedule due to unforseen circumstances. A couple of important factors like the Lions are still touring. A game is scheduled against Tonga for the KANGAROOS and Lions . If these games away in jeopardy ? The go to alternative maybe KANGAROOS V LIONS? I initially thought Lol as well but the more I thought about this scenario the more it had some merit given the volatility of planning schedules in international ruby league. Pretty sure the TV networks would not mind a Kangaroos v LIONS game particularly with the English/ Australia rivalry bolstered by the recent Ashes cricket test series. Guarantee Kangaroos v LIONS would sellout at BANKWEST or Newcastle stadiums.

I wasn’t laughing at your possible solution but your use of the word ‘backstop’.

How melodramatic!

Yes. I did work that out. Thanks anyway. My response covered both. It is extremely laughable that such a game has been relegated to "backstop " status in a hypothetical scenario.

This really is confusing, I don't know which side to take. On the one hand administrators are often idiots, on the other hand the spokesman for the players is Fifita, who's an idiot.

I strongly suspect that in the case both the board and the players are morons.
Add in the former coach too.
