Just saw it again on the footy show. He really did take a bad option trying to kick from dummy half and I don't think Steve Price did anything wrong. Good news is it appears to be medial ligament which should only keep him out for 4 weeks.

Well that was obvious. What was structure was disrupted though?

If that kid doesn't have a completely torn PCL and possible other damage then 1) He's VERY lucky and 2) I'll eat thommo's sombrero.

Happened right in front of me as it happens. Gross.

BTW isn't diving at the legs of a player kicking the ball an offence, called clipping? Or is that only when they are in the air?

I think thats NFL, champ.

You're allowed to attempt a charge down, and from the fact the Warriors regained possession, you'd say it was highly successful.

I thought it was a rookie play for sure, Price at marker, step back once slowly from the play of the ball, and attempt a kick. It's not a wise play in my book.

Sorry to see though, it didn't look good at the ground.

Nothing to do with the NFL - I don't even watch it.

This is something that was "in vogue" in the NRL some years ago.

Having just seen this one again you'd be hard pushed to make a case of clipping here though. Just a bad accident.

Thats the only time I've heard of clipping, is its an NFL offence.

Never been used in the NRL. You can put as much pressure as you like on the kicker as long as its not late, or aimed at the head basically.

No there was a thing about attacking the legs of the player a few years back.

I don't think it applies here but yeah there was a thing about going for the players leg when he is off balance or something like that a couple of seasons back.

You're wrong. You can't go for their legs when they are off balance. This was a huge issue only a few years ago and it led to a change in how players went for charge downs.

The dangers of charge downs.

It was just a matter of time before a someone was injured as a result of diving at players attempting a kick.

I only seen the replay of the incident this morning, so don't know much on what happened.
The question is didn't diving at the legs get outlawed a couple of seasons ago because of the potential for injuries?
was Price penalised and put on report?

i wouldnt be suprised if he isnt the same player when he gets back.

from memory, last year towards the end of the season TC had an injury which resulted him in having foot brace.
what i am saying is that he has suffered an injury last year, came back from injury - continue to play jersey flegg to finish off the year and played well (playing second row and lock).

oops didn't see page 2.

It all started with Ronnie Gibbs who used to dive at the legs of a kicker and someone got seriously hurt.

Goood news for Caine, Raper said after the game that it might only be 4 to 6 weeks. Great news for him and the team. :D

Rambo gibbs had it Down to a fine art. Used to fly in at the planted leg of the kicker like a missile.

This clipping thing must have happened a damn long time ago because I haven't heard it mentioned in regards to the NRL. Possibly a subject for emailing one of the Sunday Roast boys about...they tend to answer little nit picking questions like that. (Not little in this instance, but you try and find a better cliche to use.)

I cant believe he'll walk again.

It looked crook.

Contraversial ...but I think it was mostly his fault.
He took too long to kick it and everyone knows Price is the charge down king.
HIs leg looked like my old Evil Kenevil doll's rubber legs.

i'm still holding my knee

it looked f*ckin horrible

and newspapers all report that the match review committee will be looking at it, but my opinion is that it was just a silly play from TC

It's only been a matter of time before Price injured someone with his charge downs...sure, most of the time he connects with the ball..and throwing your body at a kicking leg shows some guts...but as proven on Saturday night it's a ploy which can be very dangerous.

In no way am I saying that Price is guilty...it's a freak accident...but I had seen it coming for a while now, it's just a pity that it happened to Caine.
