OK.

New list time.

Here are my top ten albums of the year.

This isnt a list to look cool either (as these can be). It's a scientific one, as I'm a bit anal and ALWAYS rate tracks in itunes, so it's based on the rating given to every track on every CD

1. Wilco - Wilco
2. bruce springsteen working on a dream
3. Yves Klein Blue - Ragged and Estactic
4. 7 Worlds Collide - The Sun Came out
5. matthew sweet & susannha hoffs under the covers v2
6 Powderfinger golden rule
7. bob evans goodnight bull creek
8. ben harper & relentless7 - white lies for dark times
9. Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side up
10.pearl jam - backspacer

1. Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver linings
2. Devin Towsend - Addicted. Really loving this CD at the moment.
3. Dark Tranquility - Where Death is Most Alive. Brilliant live album from the masters of melodic death metal
4. Queensryche - American Soldier. Great to have these guys back.
5. Mastodon - Crack the Skye
6. Devin Townsend - Ki
7. Lamb of God - Wrath
8. Megadeth - Endgame
9. Devil Driver - Pray for Villians
10. Slayer - World Painted Blood. So disappointed in this CD. Slayer has become a band of really cranky old men completely lacking creativity. Still it has its moments.

CD's I've yet to check out this year which would probably make the list
Porcupine Tree - The incident
Between the Buried and Me - The Great misdirect.

I thought I was the only one :)

I will give my top ten tomorrow at work since I am on a quiet 12 hour work shift with not much to do

I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan, but I don't think it is all that good to be honest. Maybe best album since Yield, but that's not really saying much unfortunately...

My best way of coming up with this type of list is looking back at those CDs that have sat in/on the stereo for the longest. I didn't buy many this year, and some of these may technically be 2008 releases.

So in no particular order...

Various Artists - Dark Was The Night
Leader Cheetah - The Sunspot Letters
Lee Memorial - The Lives Of...
The Aerial Maps - In The Blinding Sunlight
Tim Finn - The Conversation
The Triffids - Beautiful Waste and Other Songs
The Gin Club - Junk

... that's pretty much it out of the ones I bought.
