1. Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver linings
2. Devin Towsend - Addicted. Really loving this CD at the moment.
3. Dark Tranquility - Where Death is Most Alive. Brilliant live album from the masters of melodic death metal
4. Queensryche - American Soldier. Great to have these guys back.
5. Mastodon - Crack the Skye
6. Devin Townsend - Ki
7. Lamb of God - Wrath
8. Megadeth - Endgame
9. Devil Driver - Pray for Villians
10. Slayer - World Painted Blood. So disappointed in this CD. Slayer has become a band of really cranky old men completely lacking creativity. Still it has its moments.

CD's I've yet to check out this year which would probably make the list
Porcupine Tree - The incident
Between the Buried and Me - The Great misdirect.

Close, but add in Immortal - All Shall Fall, and Behemoth's new one too.

I'll have to have a look back before posting my own top 10 but yes, Dream Theater and Dev will be there.

Wouldn't say these are albums of the year, but they have had the most play time in the car & home.

1) Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures
2) Clutch - Strange Cousins From The West
3) Jamie T - Kings & Queens (Still no idea why I like this album)
4) Weezer - Raditude
5) Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue with the Stars
6) Scale The Summit - Carving Desert Canyons

Jury is still out on Thousand Foot Krutch - Welcome To The Masquerade.

Haha yeah slightly left of centre BUT... I don't buy into the whole "black metal" thing but I do like the way they put a musical piece together. They do some almost theatrical stuff, the tracks are just "full" for lack of a better word.

See...I would have included Nirvana's 'Live At Reading' as well, but live albums aren't really albums...they are live compilations of other albums.

Haven't bought a lot of "new" music but best album of the year: John Doe & The Sadies- Country Club. f**king magic

Not far behind it are the self titled albums by The Currency and Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women.

Gonna have to give props to the new Rancid album as well. I know it's been trashed but I really like it.

I'm pretty sure I could count the new REM live one as it has some new tracks I believe. ;-)

I left out what was my fav album of the year for the reasons you said - Wilco's Ashes of an American Flag.

New list, top 20 from UK paper The Independent
Independent: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e.../andy-gill--the-music-to-my-year-1837821.html

Wilco - Wilco
Keith Jarrett - Paris/London: Testament
David Lang - The Little Match Girl Passion
The Duckworth Lewis Method - The Duckworth Lewis Method
Teitur - The Singer
Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side Up
Antonio Pappano - Verdi: Messa Da Requiem
Doves - Kingdom of Rust
Staff Benda Bilili - Très Très Fort
Dave Rawlings - A Friend of a Friend
Nikolaus Harnoncourt - Gershwin: Porgy & Bess
Yannick Nézet-Séguin - Ravel, Daphnis et Chloe Suite No 2
Sparks - The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman
Bob Dylan - Together Through Life
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It
The Low Anthem - Oh My God, Charlie Darwin
Tinariwen - Imidiwan
Candi Staton - Who's Hurting Now?
White Denim - Fits
Os Mutantes - Haih Or Amortecedor

A bit... diverse? Of these I'd consider getting the Wilco album, Paulo Nutini and Doves (on past reputation), and The Low Anthem if I saw them in the new year at a good price.

Good album and certainly on my list as well. Furnace Room Lullaby or The Virginian are my favs of hers but MC is still a pretty solid album. Are you going to see her in January?
