seriously, if he stays fit this year, you might see a rapid climb up such rankings for one N. Cayless

Now let's be serious Nathan Cayless is way down on form and missed half the season he doesn't deserve to be there. Jason Cayless is ahead of him.

Tahu is on the list because he is from Newcastle.

Rauhihi is a bit hard done by.

I think Johns in the top 5 even when fit is borderline.

Lockyer at 1 is accurate. Mason and Price should be there not Ryles or Minichiello.

no, you see Alex,

saying "for one N. Cayless" simply intuitively and internally implies the one being, that is Nathan Cayless, as oppose to another being of a different name........ :roll: :) ;-)

and for that very reason alone i suggested that if he stays injury free next season he should claim a rightful place in such lists....i realise he has been forgotten about by many because of his failures to get on the field

but watch him go when fit...............

Exactly right.

AND YET:

* Joey makes the list

* KENNEDY makes the list

* Tahu makes the list

Come on now. Nathan Cayless missed most of the season, came off the becnh for NZ AND STILL managed to be the best on the field for them.

Surely that means something.

If SBW, at 18 or whatever, makes spot 7, then Cayless should at least be in the Top 30.

If it wasn't for the Cayless boys and SBW, NZ would have gotten badly flogged.

:shock:

Andrew Johns?

At the moment, as good as he has played in the past, I'd almost agree...

If he can come back and show how good he can play then that is another story.

Facts:

* Joey is a complete freak

* He is a great player

* JOEY PLAYED ALL OF THREE MATCHES IN 2004

So how does he make the number 2 spot, while Cayless misses out?

Puh leeze...

The last time he was 'fit' he still rates as the greatest player I have ever seen, easily outplaying the likes of Lockyer.

So my basis was completely on him being 'fit', like before. Obviously after 2 years his ability to reach the same level would be severely questioned.

surely considering the list is brought out every year, it should be based on that years performances :roll:

Exacto mundo.

It is a yearly poll. Therefore it should be updated every year.

A bloke who plays 3 games in one season does not qualify as one of the best players in the world, no matter how good he is.

My top ten would be - based on 2004 performances:
1. Lockyer
2. Hindmarsh
3. Webke
4. Buderus
5. Gower
6. Mason
7. Fitzgibbon
8. Barrett
9. Williams
10. Minichiello

it was a total crap list - Crocker in there? What was it? 25 Aussies, 4 Brits and 1 Kiwi? What a load of Daily Telegraph rubbish (note the list I do believe was the DT list, not the official list)

Ben Kennedy gives me the shits.
He can play 3 games a year and still just walk up & get picked for origin games, test matches, etc
but blokes such as Andrew Ryan & others have been working their arses off all season and just barely make the rep sides.

He played 16 games this year.

I bet you wouldn't mind if Tahu walked into the side, though...
