Rugby League, like AFL are "The mouse that roared" amongst the world sporting landscape.

Don't put rugby league into the same boat as afl. One is a small but growing international sport played in over 40 countries with professional teams in 7 countries an hundreds of thousands of fans around the world. The other has a pinnacle of playing for your suburb in front of big crowds at the geee.

AFL call their champions rockstars...... Like the time I called the live act at the local pub rockstars.

But still largely goes unnoticed.

Its a tiny sport outside a handful of cities in a few parts of the world. Nothing wrong with that but lets not pretend it is something it isn't. TouchRL actually has far more potential to become a global game than XIII RL imo.

Let's face it PR. If rugby league did not have to deal with barriers and obstacles it has endured worldwide it would be rivaling soccer. Unfortunately natural sports justice has not taken place so we have a code making small steps with a very unsportsmanlike and powerful big brother code (RU) wielding it's influence as much as it can. Not many sports have this anchor holding their growth back like rugby league does!

Perez for RLIF CEO!

If he was actually interested (and if he turns out to really be more than a snake-oil sales man) Chairman would be far more appropriate than CEO, i would expect...

The biggest coup this guy could pull of would be getting an established CFL club to field a team in the SuperLeague. THAT would be how to get peoples attention.

RL offers the CFL an international presence with a sport with very closely shared roots (up until 1929, when they introduced the forward pass, Canadian Football had practically the same rules as the RFL and RL in Australia) and CFL would give RL huge exposure in Canada.

“The man behind the Toronto Wolfpack is set to launch bids for two more North America rugby league sides.

Eric Perez is in advanced talks with two professional sports clubs, believed to be in Hamilton and Boston, and will begin negotiations with the Rugby Football League in the next few days.
"

Im interested to see which stadiums these clubs would be looking at...

Perez made the right call going for a small, intimate park at Lamport and im sure the plan is to move to BMO Stadium when the reach SuperLeague. 30k seats, perfect field dimentions and only 1km from their current stadium. It couldnt be better.

For Hamilton i would expect them to use Horton field; 25k, right dementions and in the middle of the city. That one's easy (though im interested to see if they start with that or look for something smaller for League1)

The one im curious about is Boston. Im not game to guess, but it will be very interesting to see just how ambissious they are with these teams (maybe they play out of Harvard and try to build a campus following or maybe they even try hosting the Toronto v Boston derby in Gillette Stadium. That would be huge if it succeeded)...
