Total Recall remake

While I absolutely detest any and all remakes (write something original you lazy f**ks!) this actually looks like a fairly decent movie.

Looks like they took the key points of the Total Recall storyline and inserted them into a Minority Report-style future

what irritates me the most about remakes in this day and age is that the original Total Recall is a movie that stands up fine today. it's still perfectly watchable. i can understand that movies from the 40's and 50's need remakes to deliver them to a modern audience... but you can watch Total Recall today and it's still fine and relevant.

I agree but there's also a generation of people who haven't even heard of the movie Total Recall, I was 20 yrs old when first saw the film at the cinemas, I'm now 44yrs old....

Definitely, but at the same time, most movies these days simply change the name and remake an unoriginal concept. I was pretty skeptical as soon as I heard about this movie (not to mention colin farrell), but the trailer looks pretty decent. Loved the original, interested in seeing how they can improve the idea (or if they can). Looks like all people involved have played a fair bit of mass effect.

Definitely won't be seeing it launch day though, I'll wait until a few reviews come out.

Speaking of Paul Verhooven films... there is also a remake of Robocop either in development or production. Personally I think its the worst idea ever. If there was ever a movie that was relevant to the time it was actually made...it is Robocop.

Agree the above, didn't need a remake. Robocop should be left right alone, timeless in it's era, just ignore the 3rd one and forget it ever happened lol

It doesn't even look like a remake to me, it looks like a more faithful adaptation of the short story which the first film was based on.

This movie will have to go in a totally different direction, i.e. have the basic ingredients of a smart script, engaging plot and good acting.

The original being an Arnie movie didn't need these and it worked, because it was 10% sci-fi and 90% pure unadulterated Arnie cheese.
