There was an article in the Canberra Times today indicating that the Toyota Cup was rating far better than Fox Sports had expected, particularly Raiders matches.

The highest-rating match of the season so far was the Roosters vs Raiders, with 111,000 tuning in. The second highest was the Panthers vs Raiders, with 88,800 viewers, followed by the Rabbitohs vs Storm at 87,000, and the rest around the 80,000 mark.

Fantastic start for a comp in its first season, surely it can only get better from here.

Great read thanks skeepe, uve gotta say im enjoying having the option to see the youngsters, if only sometimes the crowd would get there a little earlier to see them aswell.

Certainly. I try to get there early to cheer on the younger lads. It is a bit hard sometimes on monday/friday games with work and all though.

Very nice to see the NYC has been such a success. Will be bigger and better with years to come.

fantsatic.

the A League and S14 struggle to get those figures to many of their games.

maybe fox can start paying for it in the future

Hopefully it will lead to more games, and sponsership should go through the roof because of the excellent ratings. Better TV ratings than union should mean bigger sponsership than union if we could get the newspaper on board too.
The Newcastle Hearld is giving a bit more coverage every week - and hopefully other papers will run with it soon.

lol the toyota cup on PAY TV almost outrates Swans AFL games on FTA in Sydney

yet all we hear about is how strong AFL is? All very confusing to me.

IMO they should show 3-4 games per week next season. They used to have a dedicated RL channel, i'd love for them to bring it back. 2 days per week they could show replays of the last weeks games and on the other days they can show older matches
