Tradition

Sydney-centric fans keep going on about tradition.
Whats the criteria for an event to qualify as tradition?

A tradition that is only nine years old is the Michael Moore trophy. It is only awarded to the winner between Warriors and Storm in Moore's memory.

Therefore, i am of the opinion that the notion of tradition is not based on years but is a pact between organisations based on mutual interests. IF only NSWRL can open their minds to the fact that their tradition is not the be all and end all.

You have completely missed the point.
We don't think our tradition is the only tradition around. We admire and respect the tradition that non-Sydney clubs have built.
The fact is a fair amount of non-Sydney fans don't give a f*ck about the traditions we set, better yet, the traditions the game is known for.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tradition =
the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, esp. by word of mouth or by practice

Fairly straight forward and a simple concept to understand I would have thought.

Why is it so many people who do not live in sydney are so keen to ignore the games traditions that are generations old.

NRL has an amazing amount of tradition. There are times in all of our clubs we take pride in, and there are times we struggle in but keep our love and support for the team. This doesn't only refer to current teams, but every team who has played in this competition. From South Sydney to Annandale. From Eastern Suburbs to Hunter Mariners.

michael moore was an absolute champion of a bloke who came from a cracker of a family.

you would go a long way to find a better bloke.

what happened was a terrible loss to a lot of good people & a wonderful family.

Tradition is a great thing but it should never be used as an excuse not to move forward and better oneself.

I would suggest that you couldn't give a rat's arse about anything other than getting an NRL in Perth.

That seems to be your traditional stance. f**k everyone else, put a team in Perth.

Not everyone thinks putting a team in Perth is moving forward...

From North Sydney to the Central Coast to South Sydney to the Western Reds to the Adelaide Rams.

THe NRL/News Limited has a great tradition. Do whatever it takes, no matter how the game is damaged, to make money for News Limited.

I would suggest you have NFI!

I watched RL many years before the Western Reds birth and have watched it many years since the Perth Reds demise. i continue to watch it now we have the WA Reds and will no doubt keep on watching till the day i die. unlike some fans I don't spit the dummy and leave the game because i don't like the decisions some businessman running the show makes!
