Trainers on the field

The trainers remaining on the field is a form of cheating, pure and simple.
Get them off until a try is scored or someone is hurt. The rest of the time they are out there they are coaching.

And how does a team tell players how many sets / timing of their interchange?

Leave the rules as they are in terms of when they can enter the field of play and just properly enforce them.

Then change the rule on the ball making contact with trainer.

That one is easy...piss off the interchanges. Lazy bastards can go 40.

Is it cheating if everyone is allowed to do it?

That happens about as often as a trainer getting hit with the ball...

Serious injury to stop a game - prior to 2019's bullshit of stoppages for cramp or Jake T getting his fat gypsy (according to 1 loud fan on the audio lol) melon wrapped - I agree. But when Brad Parker can blow a knee taking a tap it's not inconceivable that there could be a knock copped in the opening hitup, especially of a GF.

You also failed to quote this part of my post, which clearly addresses the above.

So you said

Sure, let them on in stoppages, or when a player is ACTUALLY hurt

Well, mate, really? How do they determine if a player is ACTUALLY hurt? Some bloke - we'll call him a "trainer" for the purposes of this exercise - needs to check on the player, ask some questions.

How do you propose this check up is conducted by the trainer without entering the field of play and speaking with the player?

Then may as well have the medivac on the field behind play.

You know, in case someone gets hurt.

That's a bit silly. They're large and slow and would provide more of a hazard than any good made up from them being closer.

Well it should at least be in the tunnel I think. I know players are very reluctant to use it but it's a pretty crook look when a bloke has to hop or hobble from the far side of the ground.

Cheating is defined as:

act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage.

I'd concede it were dishonest if they were ever actually held accountable for when and why they're on the field.

It's clearly not unfair as everyone can do it.

Never denied it COULD happen. Just not often.

It’s pretty obvious if a player is actually hurt or not... that’s a silly argument. If no one looks injured, it’s a pretty safe bet they’re not... so there’s no need for a trainer to be in the field.

Are you being blatantly obtuse on purpose?

Good to see you agree.
